On July 16, field journalist Oleg Blokhin shared photos of Russian Special Operations Forces assaulting militants’ positions in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib.

The photos show the Russian service members firing a number of D-30 and D-30A howitzers of the Syrian Arab Army. The 122 mm howitzer has a maximum range of 21.9 km with rocket-assisted projectile.

Russian forces usually use guided artillery shells. In his case, it was likely the KITOLOV-2M, a 122 mm shell guided by semi-active laser. The shell has a range of up to 13,5 km.

The Russian artillery strikes were carried out on July 14 and 15 in a response to the recent attack on a joint Russian-Turkish patrol on the M4 highway in Greater Idlib. The Russian Aerospace Forces also conducted airstrikes on the region in response to the attack.

Russian Special Operations Forces are active in several parts of Syria, especially in Greater Idlib. These well-trained and equipped units carry out reconnaissance and anti-terrorism operations in the region on a regular basis.

Carpet bombing would be more appropriate.

Zionism = EVIL

The Russian D-30 is perhaps the best howitzer in the world and now with semi-active laser guided 122mm shells it has pinpoint accuracy. The headchoppers will be decapitated instead. In the bigger picture, I believe Putin is finally getting tougher as he is encouraging Sisi to act in Libya and the Russian Ambassador at the UN had very hard words for the Americunt losers as well.

Russian permanent representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia said the US draft resolution on extending the United Nations’ arms embargo on Iran has no chance of succeeding

“This resolution has very sad prospects. I mean, they just do not exist,” Nebenzia said in an open online interview on Thursday, Sputnik reported.

According to the diplomat, Russia told the US as soon as the latter started working on the resolution that it has “absolutely no chance of being adopted.” He also indicated that Russia has every right to sell Iran or anyone any amount of required weaponry as it is the US and its NATO vassals that arming the region by selling arms to everyone.

Thank you for sharing these news.

Liberal guy

Whole wahhabi units must been destroyed by the shelling

With some brand new SUs….it would take only a few squadrons to dramatically (“bigly” as Trampa would say) increase air capabilities (Iran).

There are two major Chinese aircraft to be built in Iran, one is a 4.5 generation long range multi-function aircraft like the J-10/11 and the other is a dedicated heavy DPA (deep penetration attack) bomber more advanced than the very successful JH-7.

In pictures 1, 5 and 7, you can see a Russian holding a stick. In other pictures, he’s sticking it into shells. Do you perhaps know the purpose of it?

KITOLOV means whale catcher. Quite interesting word. Because in Russian to fish means mot-a-mot “to catch fish” and one of the name of “fisher” is “fish catcher”. But in case of whales the name transforms in “whale killer”. So KITOLOV is quite unusual word.

BMWA1

What about Rybi etc?

Harry Smith

Yeah. Рыба (Ryba) means Fish. To fish will be ловить рыбу (to catch fish). Fisher will be рыбак (rybak) or less used рыболов (rybolov) which is fish catcher in mot-a-mot translation. As for whales, in Russian whale is кит (kit) but for those who are fishing whale the word is китобой (kittorboy) which means whale killer or slaughterer. I never met in discussions or in literature the word китолов (KITOLOV or more close to pronunciation kittoh-lorv). Maybe somewhere in dictionaries there is this word but I never heard this word been used. That’s quite interesting.
