On December 29, Hezbollah’s Military Media shared videos showing recent attacks on Israeli settlements near the border with Lebanon.
One of the videos shows unguided rockets hitting the settlements of Kiryat Shmona, Metulla, Manara and Avivi. The other shows an attack with a suicide drone that appears to be a copy of the Iranian Ababil-2 against a newl-established position of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) near Kiryat Shmona.
Hezbollah said that the attacks were carried out to support Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and in response to recent Israeli strikes on Lebanon.
Hezbollah carried out six attacks against the IDF on December 28, targeting military positions, gatherings of troops, vehicles and howitzers near the Lebanese border. Hebrew media reported material losses. However, there were no casualties.
The IDF responded to the last wave of attacks by carrying out air and artillery strikes against Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon. No casualties were reported.
The border between Lebanon and Israel has seen escalating exchanges of fire between the IDF and Hezbollah since the Israeli war on the Palestinian Gaza Strip first broke out after the October 7 Hamas-led surprise attack.
So far, the border clashes have resulted in four civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of nine IDF soldiers. On the Lebanese side, more than 150 have been killed. The toll includes 120 Hezbollah members, ten of whom were killed in Syria, 16 Palestinian fighters, at least 19 civilians and three journalists.
