The Russian military has successfully destroyed yet another Soviet-made S-300 long-range air defense system of Kiev forces.
Video footage showing the attack on the system, which was reportedly deployed near the city of Apostolovo in the Dnepropetrovsk region, was first posted on social networks on April 8. The footage shows a tactical ballistic missile, most likely the 9M723 fired by an Iskander-M system, exploding over a 9A83-1 transporter erector launcher and radar vehicle (TELR) and a 9S32 Grill Pan engagement radar which make up the S-300V system. Both vehicles were shredded by the air bust blast of the ballistic missile.
Prior to the start of the Russian special military operation, Kiev forces had around 100 S-300P, S-300PT, S-300PS and S-300V1 batteries in service. In the first few months of the operation, the country received a single S-300PMU battery from Slovakia.
Many of Ukraine’s S-300 systems have been destroyed, damaged or captured by the Russian military since the start of the operation.
The Russian military intensified suppression and destruction of enemy air defenses operations in the special military operation zone in the last few months.
Ukraine’s air defense capabilities continue to deteriorate, despite receiving massive support from the United States and other allies. The Russian military is still carrying out strikes against targets across the country without facing any real resistance.
