The Russian military had destroyed another S-300 long-range air defense system of Kiev forces, according to video footage that surfaced online on February 24.
The footage shows what appears to be precision-guided missiles decimating the 5N63S fire control radar and one transporter erector launcher (TEL), of the 5P85D or the 5P85S type, of the system, which was deployed in an unspecified part of the special military operation zone in Ukraine.
Prior to the start of the Russian special military operation, Kiev forces had around 100 S-300P, S-300PT, S-300PS and S-300V1 batteries in service. In the first few months of the operation, the country received a single S-300PMU battery from Slovakia.
Many of Ukraine’s S-300 systems have been destroyed, damaged or captured by the Russian military since the start of the operation.
The Russian military intensified suppression and destruction of enemy air defenses (SEAD/DEAD) operations in the last few months.
Another video that was posted to social media on February 24 showed the destruction of a Ukrainian P-18 long-range surveillance radar with an air-launched Kh-35 cruise missile. The radar was deployed in the outskirts of the settlement of Vladimirovka in the Donetsk region.
Despite receiving massive support from the United States and other allies, Ukraine’s air defense capabilities continue to deteriorate. The Russian military is still carrying out strikes against targets across the country without facing any real resistance.

if russia can keep up the momentum, ukraine will not be able to maintain a viable rate of replacement for these assets and those losses create great opportunities for russian advancement and attack.
