In Video: Russian Pinpoint Airstrike Wiped Out Militants’ Headquarters In Western Aleppo

Support SouthFront

A Russian airstrike wiped out on January 23 a large headquarters of al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and its allies in the western Aleppo countryside.

Opposition activists released a video of the Russian pinpoint airstrike which destroyed most of the headquarters. A guided bunker buster bomb was likely used to take down the target.

Pro-government sources said that militants used to command operations and plot attacks on Aleppo’s city center from the headquarters, which is located in the vicinity of the town of Kfar Dael. Prior to the war, the building was a hotel known as Harsho.

The airstrike was one of more than 140 others which targeted the Greater Idlib region in the last 24 hours, according to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The intense Syrian and Russian airstrikes on Greater Idlib, especially on western Aleppo suggest that the Syrian military may launch a ground operation there soon.

I hope it was full of rats and a few foreign advisors

Assad must stay

chock full of rats ahhahahaha

Lonesome Cowboy Burt

Wonder if they finished off the rest of the building with a followup strike? Must have hit the area they needed to take out and wasn’t nec.

Damien C

Can’t see anyone wanting to stay in the remaining half after that Burt

Lonesome Cowboy Burt

Not stay, but not make it out alive either.

FlorianGeyer

Especially the foreign advisers. I would also suspect foreign snipers. Even NATO snipers :)

Liberal guy

Few sniper nests also burned in recent air strikes burn u wahhabi cowards burn hahahahaha

Prince Teutonic

good kill… good kill!

MichaH

That was clearly the last functioning hospital in Idlib!

Arch Bungle

For HTS at least …

FlorianGeyer

Obviously ,LOL.

Joe Dickson

If Russian airstrikes were effective you would think they would be defeated after tens of thousands of bombs.

MichaH

You mean just like airstrikes defeated Ansar Allah, the Taliban, the Vietcong and so on …airstrikes alone never defeated anybody in the history of warfare my friend.

Toni Liu

Yes you right, except nuke, nuke the only airstrike that can beat anything

Joe Dickson

It is one thing to occupy and be harassed by asymmetric warfare, Assad doesn’t even occupy the territory to get that far.

Toni Liu

Airstrike is more effective when this terrorist make their base, ammunition dump, or other military object far from civilian, but many of them make their ammunition dump just a ten meters away from refugee camp or in the middle of city make the airstrike hard without any civilian casualties

Joe Dickson

Russians don’t care about civilians. Stop living in fantasy land. They retard bomb any village that has suspect activity. The retard bombs aren’t the real problem, the problem is they lack HUMINT to know what the real targets are. If the KGB was still around they would have killed the top ten most wanted list already, so far they only got one.

FlorianGeyer

The terror gangs had , with Western expertise, constructed a large underground base UNDERNEATH the large Douma National Hospital that was still a functioning hospital at the time.

The UK was well aware of this, the UK Backed White Helmets faux rescue teams were directly involved.

The UK was knowingly complicit in an egregious WAR CRIME.

Damien C

Why don’t you go and stay with your head-chopping buddies in Ildib and see how effective it is Joe

Joe Dickson

Reports say that thousands of Turkish backed fighters have been moved to Libya to fight Haftar, now is the perfect time to strike.

Nosferatu

Russian airstrikes are effective. Proof? Syrian army was losing and was going to be defeated. Than Russian airstrikes started and Syrian army is now winning and in control of most of the country. This was achieved without Russian (major) presence on the ground. of course there need to be thousands of strikes. Acording to estimates there were around 300 000 terorists in total and US and its vassal states were regurarly reinforcing them.

Joe Dickson

They let them run away to Idlib which is where the real fight is taking place. Currently the SAA is getting their ass handed to them. If they killed 300,000 terrorists they should have defeated them three times over by now. They have killed 300,000 people, some of them terrorists, most of them civilians.

Nosferatu

are you a troll or just stupid?

FlorianGeyer

Joe is both I suspect.

Russian pinpoint attack destroyed militants head quarters. I hope it know safe let Putin call ceasefire.

Hide Behind

As many have noted airstrips alone cannot win a war. While Russia gets to improve its armaments and train their pilots, over 250 Syrian military and malitia lost their lives in last 10 days. Airpower: in Vietnam US had vast military air supetiority from helicopters, close in firesupport planes ,supply planes, fighter bombers and B52 bombers that permanently destroyed huge swaths of real estate and got defeated. The North and The South’s rebels went underground, I mean under the F’n ground. In the North they litteraly removed factories from above ground to huge multilevel tunnel and have systems. Hospitals disapeared, went underground; rice and peanut farmers moved all their threshing and.processing plants and, storage went underground. Official buildings emptied and offices went underground; all their media,( print, radio and TV went underground and re.ained mobile changing places every few days to avoid tracking. Along the Hi Chi Min trail in Cambodia were massive tunnel complexes. In the.South The Rebels had hospitals, printing, arms facories, printing presses and rradio stations complexes multi levels deep, There were huge complexes just miles out from its Provincial and Central government capitals that were so complete they had Rest and Recreation facilities so their troop could relax for awhile, and wives along with women of street came to visit and enjoy rice wine and stolen US beer and whiskeys. Odd thing is we thought we destroyed many tunnels but all we hurt was top levels. One needs to take and hold ground, Boots and guns, another mistake by US who moved, killed and removed peasants by burning bamboo huts iand then left in a land where bamboo grew fast andna hut took two days to build, take and hold, and controll every move of vivilians in order to defeat a determined enemy.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Cluster bombs dropped near Aleppo, what a brilliant idea, the easiest way to incur unwanted civilian casualties is by using these little beauties, so that made me wonder, why the hell would they be so stupid, that’s the last thing the Russians should be dropping on Aleppo, so I watched the video to find out. I’m no expert but that’s no cluster bomb, from the way the shockwave penetrated the building and blew out the other side I’d guess it was a high explosive bomb designed to take out buildings, not people.

Jonas Vebel

It says buster bomb, not cluster…

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Gee that was helpful, got any more words of wisdom you want to share.

intp1

Looked more like Demolition No visible incoming Collapse would need to take out key columns Not bunker buster, for a building standing above ground.
