i can’t say i am a military expert, but when i was commander in chief of the british forces, i would use a lot more smoke. for such small assault groups, they should lay a lot of smoke all the way up to the front, utilise heavy artillery and saturate the point of contact with infantry so as to take hold of the trench and break through. smoke makes it difficult to spot and target tanks or advancing infantry.
obviously there are pros and cons, but it means that fighting really starts at point blank range and they stand a very good chance of getting in the trench as they are not well manned per mile. without smoke, the afvs are open targets, and the troops can advance behind them, thus avoiding sweeping fields of fire. i don’t think the ukrainins should be finding taking these forward trenchlines so difficult.
all crew of the afvs should install proper bongs and give it a good smoke during attack. well, they will be killed anyway, but at least they will be relaxed and happy.
fog of war. easier to play chess and shake hands at end. the ukronazis would sabotage the game by blowing up a dam or nuclear reactor in the vicinity.
