Ukraine is running out of servicemen on the battlefields and the commanders of Ukrainian military units are asking for mass mobilization. As of today, the Ukrainian army lost hundreds of thousands of soldiers, about 12 thousand Ukrainian POWs are in Russian captivity, which is ten times more than in Ukrainian prisons, an undetermined number of Ukrainian soldiers have gone missing, while a large part of male population fled abroad. The mobilization of old men and women will not change the situation at the front. This will only increase the losses of the AFU and the number of prisoners.
The situation can only be changed by direct intervention of NATO in the conflict, which is to be expected in the first part of 2024.
Here is interview with the commander of the Ukrainian company of the 80th Separate Assault Brigade of the AFU Mr Shevchuk:
There are not enough people. I’m talking straight and I’m not afraid of it. We do not have enough soldiers. The soldiers are running out. Daily. Those who think that they will sit it out somewhere in the deep rear, wait until the end of the war, and then declare that they helped the economic front by buying coffee and cigarettes … This plan will not work. There are few soldiers, because we have a full-scale war, and for some reason no full-scale mobilization. Everyone who calls themselves a Ukrainian citizen, including women, (must go to the front). The law does not prohibit women from serving in the army. Our authorities and the military-political leadership will come to this sooner or later. They are not stupid. Great hopes rest on the new Minister of Defense. I hope that not only the introduction of some technologies into the life of the Ministry of Defense and into the troops in general will lead to mass mobilization, but also a tough approach to this matter. I see nothing wrong with the fact that the military enlistment officers, representatives of the recruitment centers take to the streets and catch those who are obliged to fulfill their military duty. This doesn’t bother me. When I lose my men in a combat mission, I don’t care. We are fulfilling our military duty, so they must fulfill it too. We don’t want to defend the dodgers.
