Iran showcased one of its Russian-made S-300 PMU2 long-range air defense systems during a military parade on April 18, refuting Israeli claims that all of the Islamic Republic’s systems were destroyed in two separate aerial attacks last year.
The parade, which was attended by President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior officials, was held in the capital, Tehran, to celebrate the National Army Day.
Iran purchased four S-300 PMU2 systems in 2007. Russia maintained a self-imposed ban on the delivery of the system until the easing of some United States sanctions as part of the Iran nuclear deal framework in 2015 and subsequent Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
In 2016, Iran received the four systems, each consisting of a 96L6E target-acquisition radar, a 30N6E2 target-engagement radar, and four 5P85TE2 towed transporter-erector-launchers (TELs). The systems are supported by two 64N6E2 battle-management radars and linked using FL-95 antenna masts.
Officials from Israel and the U.S. alleged in 2024 that all four systems were placed out of service as a result of two Israeli attacks on Iran.
The 96L6E radar of one system was supposedly taken out in the first attack, which was launched on April 29 of the year in response to the Iranian drone and missile strikes in Israel. The strikes themselves were an Iranian retaliation for the Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus.
The three remaining systems were hit in the second attack, which Israel carried out on October 26 in response to another wave of Iranian strikes that took place earlier that month. The strikes were also carried out in response to a wave of Israeli assassinations that claimed the lives of senior allies of Iran, including Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Video footage from the parade in Tehran showed an intact 96L6E radar, confirming that the claims about all Iranian S-300 PMU2 systems being destroyed were false.
The S-300 was designed to deal with all sorts of aerial threats, from ballistic missiles, to fighter jets and drones. The PMU2 version can fire a variety of missiles, with ranges close to 200 kilometers. Due to these advanced capabilities, the system is considered the cornerstone of Iran’s air defense network and the first line of defense of its nuclear facilities.
The Iranian military parade came amid indirect nuclear talks with the U.S., which abandoned the JCPOA in 2016. In the months leading to the talks, Washington bolstered its forces close to Iran and recent reports revealed that it was also developing plans with Israel for an attack on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program.

the world looks forward to watching the zionazi evil that occupies palestine burn crispy in the coming war should the orange blob bend over for the $atanic nutnyahoo. go iran go and finally rid humanity of these disgusting monsters.
the world will be surpriced to realise russia will deactivate the s 300 in iran before isreal hits. you should look at the tarif situation. usa and russia move more towards each other while china and the eu move more towards each other. the russia and usa approachmement will at some point be more important to putin then iran. never underestimate ego putin feels more respected by trump then by xi.
the us has not countered the brics threat . ukraine , nord stream , gaza , syria are not forgotten in the world
“then”? twice? “surpriced”? typical illiterate yankee. and other spelling errors too numerous to enumerate here. when you have learned english – and i don’t mean that ugly american dialect – perhaps you might have something more valuable to relate. until then (correct usage, unlike yours) – just shut up.
israel failed! in teheran, there were no explosions on ground which means that israeli missile failed.
incredible chutzpah from cretins that cannot subdue hamas yet, picking fights with every major regional power. the jew lives in eternal damnation and insecurity. when the iranians get their nukes, we will celebrate by wiping our asses with the talmud
iran couldn’t even defeat a few thousand rebels for their “great ally” syria…heheheh
it is becoming hard to find a supporter of israel that can read or write.
swallowing too much mulatto semen not good for inferior amerikunt species
not “a few thousand rebels”. well over 100,000 head choppers from 100 countries, created, paid, armed, transported, orchestrated by the jewsa, the world’s no.1 state sponsor of terrorism, and its assorted jackals, poodles, satraps and arab quisling dictators, provided with zio holiday camps on the golan heights. at a cost of many tens of billions. with a conveyor belt of more jihadi halfwits to replace losses.
why showing them ? let zog enjoy the surprise.
this went under the radar mostly but on the 8th of april, russian state duma announced that they ratified the comprehensive strategic agreement with iran, so it officially came into power 10 days ago. :)
everybody knows that governments lie and withhold all information under the guise of secrecy. israel are probably the biggest liars of them all. recently they were caught out when the killed innocent medics and showed the world what liars they are.
iran if it has any sense needs to fast track a program to build and then test a nuke.
