Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on June 28 that its navy and aerospace forces launched joint missile and drone attacks targeting United States military sites in Kuwait and Bahrain in response to earlier American strikes on the Islamic Republic.
“Violating the ceasefire is contrary to Clause 1 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and will result in the complete halt of all diplomatic processes,” the IRGC said in a statement.
The guards added that it “destroyed eight important U.S. military facilities at the Ali al-Salem base in Kuwait and at the Fifth Fleet naval base in Port Salman in Bahrain.”
“Any enemy aggression, whatever the pretext, even against insignificant targets… will have a crushing response,” it warned.
Kuwait’s military confirmed that the Gulf state came under attack from “hostile” missiles and drones, without providing much details.
“Kuwaiti air defenses are currently engaging hostile missile and drone attacks. Everyone is urged to adhere to the safety and security instructions issued by the relevant authorities,” the military wrote on X.
Separately, the Bahraini military said that it “intercepted and destroyed a number of projectiles used in these treacherous Iranian attacks,” adding that it is on “maximum alert.”
The overnight U.S. strikes on Iran marked the second direct American attack against the Islamic Republic since the two signed a memorandum of understanding to end the war earlier this month. The first attack took place just a day earlier. The IRGC also responded then. In both cases, the U.S. accused Iran of targeting ships near the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran said that the latest strikes targeted several monitoring and surveillance facilities on Iran’s southern coast, calling the attacks a violation of the interim deal.
“These brutal attacks … show that the US does not place the slightest value and credibility on its commitments, and breaking promises is part of its nature,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
President Donald Trump said earlier that Iran would “no longer exist” if the United States is “forced” to resume the war, as he accused the Islamic Republic of violating a ceasefire by striking ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
The latest escalation is unlikely to lead to the collapse of the memorandum of understanding. Both Iran and the U.S. seem determined to push the deal forward.
Still, the Islamic Republic has not given up on its quest to control the Strait of Hormuz, a key passage for about 20 percent of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas shipments. The U.S., from this side, is challenging this in order to prevent the Islamic Republic from imposing future tolls on the waterway.

what a stupid statement. the u.s. is violating the very agreement they signed because they are desperate, not because they are challenging iran’s right to charge a fee. trump knows there will be no diesel soon if the us doesn’t get the oil they need for it. u.s. reserves are gone, that’s all there is to it…that and trumps blather about he controls israel, as they thumb their nose at him. he wants to look relevant, not impotent, which he is.
well put. adding to your observations which are relevant. the u.$. has probably less than a few weeks left in it’s use of strategic reserves which if under 20% capacity causes damage to the containing caves that hold the fuel at these sites. needless to say. can’t wait for the opening bell on wall street tomorrow!…

the usadmin and very probably the isreali apartheid regime are hitting monitoring and surveillance facilities along the coast. this means that the war is still on. it’s now just called something else. as usual, the us president is writing cheques his admin cannot handle. the trumpster likes a gamble. maybe his next attack will be third time lucky? or maybe it won’t.
the us is a puppet state without any ability of self determination. what ben gvir wants, america completes
