Iraqi government forces conducted on September 19 a combing operation in the vicinity of the key town of Akashat in the western province of al-Anbar.

“Under the direction of the Joint Operations Command, a force from the 8th Mechanized Division of the al-Jazeera Operations Command and the National Intelligence Service conducted a search for terrorists’ weapons depots northeast of Akashat in the Shamiya Desert,” the Security Media Cell said in an official statement.

In the course of the operation, Iraqi government forces uncovered and destroyed two hideouts and a motorcycle of ISIS cells.

Iraqi forces also uncovered an ammo depot containing at least seven Bulgarian-made Fagot anti-tank guided missiles (ATGMs) along with a launcher. This type of missiles was supplied by the U.S. and its allies to Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups in Syria.
