ISIS Fighters Carryy Out New Attack On SDF-Controlled Oil Field In Eastern Deir Ezzor

On August 28, ISIS fighters attacked several positions of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the al-Azraq oil field in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

The UK-based monitoring group said that the SDF managed to repel the attack only after the intervention of US-led coalition warplanes, which targeted ISIS fighters around the oil field.

The attack was likely launched from the remaining positions of the terrorist group on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. More than 1,000 fighters and commanders of ISIS are believed to be hiding there.

Earlier this month, more than 20 ISIS fighters attacked positions of the US-led coalition and the SDF in the Omar oil fields in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside. Back then, coalition warplanes and attack helicopters killed most of the attackers.

The SDF is currently preparing to launch a large-scale military operation to clear ISIS pocket on the eastern bank of the Euphrates River, according to several sources. The US-backed operation will likely be kicked off in the upcoming few weeks.

Humanitarian workers have a passion for helping and serving civilians. Our actions are the key to life which makes the land a livable place. Therefore, Human workers are not a target for the murder and destruction forces of the Assad terror regime. So don’t pay attention to the propaganda and interpretation and idle talk of the enemy regarding the current jihad in Idlib. Sufficient is for you the elucidation given by the Book of Allah and the Prophet of Allah regarding Jihad. But you must be careful, though the Jihad is the best deed but still it carries with it high risks. God forbid, if you violate others rights during Jihad or harass innocent human beings or harm the life, property or status of the common people, then you will become a hated and despised person, deserving punishment in this world and the world to come.

Your comment makes NO sense at all Helmut.

I’ll bet he’s one of the infamous white helmets incognito.

True Believers of “holy books” become fervent in THEIR “interpretation” of “Gods Will”. The first thing Osama bin Laden and Bush senior did on creating Al Qaeda in Pakistan was to fly in two plane loads of Korans with the Wahhabi elucidation, or explanation. This authoritarian ideology disguised as a religion gives them the “right” to kill in the name of “Jihad… the best deed”.

This oil field is too far away from the ISIS strongholds along the river to be attacked by them. These ISIS fighters most likely are the ones the SDF recently chased out from the nearby al Mallah oil & gas station.

It’s all about the oil, the US stole that oil, and they will do almost anything to keep their loot.

Exactly Sinbad.

What’s the difference between an Isis fighter and an Arab militiaman, just the ideology, physically they’re very hard to tell the difference between, is it always Isis hitting the SDF? Not long ago 70 Arab tribes united and vowed to boot the Kurds out of Arab lands in Al-Hasaka, a similar thing happened in Ar-Raqqah, I’m not sure it’s always Isis hitting the SDF and the US.
