While Syrian government forces are deploying reinforcements and readying for an attempt to retake the ancient city of Palmyra, ISIS terrorists have been developing their advance in the area.
Reports appeared that ISIS forward detachments are flanking the Syrian army and the National Defense Forces (NDF) along the Homs-Palmyra highway.
This is a common tactic of a mobile warfare. The goal of operation is to destroy the logistics of government forces in the area and to beat army and NDF units one by one.
If pro-government forces don’t repel these ISIS attemts, they will be pushed to retreat at least to the areas west of the Tiyas airbase.
