On May 20, the ISIS-affiliated Khalid ibn al-Walid Army repelled a large attack of the Free Syrian Army (FSA) on its positions in the village of Adwan in western Daraa, according to the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq. The source said that Khalid ibn al-Walid Army members had killed ten fighters and commanders of the FSA.
In response to the attack, the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army shelled several FSA positions around the village of Adwan with mortars and targeted a battle tank of the FSA.
The Syrian pro-opposition news outlet Enab Baladi confirmed that the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army repelled the FSA attack. The source also revealed that Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) had supported the FSA during the failed attack.
The FSA began its preparations to launch the new attack on the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army on May 16. Back then, many Syrian pro-government activists expected that the new attack will fail, like the previous ones.
Despite of its defeat, local observers believe that the FSA will soon launch a new attack on the Khalid ibn al-Walid Army, as it appears that foreign powers, mainly Israel, are behind these attacks.
