The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) imposed control of the village of al-Shajlah, which is located in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside, following three days of violent clashes with ISIS fighters, the SDF media center announced on September 25.

“In the early hours of the morning, following the fierce clashes between our fighters and the terrorists, our forces managed to liberate the village of al-Shajlah after killing many terrorists and seizing weapons and ammunition,” the SDF media center said in a press release.

The US-led coalition, that’s backing the SDF operation in the Euphrates Valley, announced that its warplanes carried out 61 airstrikes against ISIS in Syria between September 17 and 23. The airstrikes targeted positions, vehicles and ammo depots of the terrorist group, mainly in southeastern Deir Ezzor.

On the other side, the remaining fighters of ISIS in the Euphrates river carried out a series of attacks against US backed forces over the last three days. The biggest operation occurred on September 25, when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) targeted a gathering of SDF personnel in the town of al-Baghuz al-Fawqani, south of al-Shajlah.

The SDF will now attack ISIS positions in the town of al-Susah, north of al-Shajlah. The terrorist group will likely fail to hold onto its positions in the town because of the heavy fire power of the US-led coalition.

SPEAKER OF THE TRUTH

Infighting amongst the terrorists! Always good news.

You might update Your Win85.

The offensive seems to be coordinating well between air and ground, although I suppose that was one of the preconditions the Kurds had for this assault.

ISIS are tuff little cookies.

Their shelf life is rapidly expiring.

I like that. Rapidly would be better.
