On July 13th, the Palestinian Information Center reported that Israel had blocked the Red Crescent from delivering aid to Palestinians whose homes were demolished recently in the northern Jordan Valley.
According to Wafa, Mutaz Bsharat, an official responsible for tracking Israeli activities in the Jordan valley, Israeli forces intercepted the truck in Humsah Al-Foqa, and forced it to return to where it came from with its cargo.
Israel has a long history of blocking Palestinian access to medicine and humanitarian resources. Palestinians in Gaza who require medical treatment from hospitals in Jerusalem and the West Bank go through an onerous process imposed by Israel to be approved for a border permit. These permits are frequently denied or delayed to the point where health complications escalate to fatalities.
A few days ago, Israel also blocked the delivery of UN aid to Palestinians whose homes were demolished in the northern Jordan Valley and asked a UN aid team to leave the area.
On July 7, Israeli forces razed 27 homes and structures used for keeping livestock as well as water tanks in the Palestinian herding community of Humsa al-Fuqa in Jordan Valley.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said the demolition had been the first of its kind since February.
“The repeated destruction of their homes and property, including assistance provided by the humanitarian community is having a devastating economic, social and traumatic impact on the community, particularly children,” the OCHA has warned.
The Israeli army’s civil administration and forces also confiscated, among other things, food, milk for children, clothes, hygiene materials and toys during that demolition campaign.
The action involved 11 homes for about 70 people, including 36 children, OCHA said. Animals had no fodder and water as well.
UN Humanitarians said 11 structures donated as humanitarian aid in February following similar demolitions were destroyed or seized by the army during Wednesday’s raid.

In a separate incident on July 13th, Israel confiscated a bulldozer from a Palestinian citizen as he was using it to reclaim privately-owned tracts of land in eastern Nablus belonging to local residents from the villages of Furush Beit Dajan Ein Shabli.
Meanwhile, the Palestinians are on their way to lose some more of its support. On July 13th, Israeli President Isaac Herzog spoke on the phone with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
They discussed he Israeli-Palestinian conflict as well as promoting ties between both countries, according to Turkey’s state-owned news agency.
Herzog and Erdogan also discussed regional cooperation in the fields of technology and tourism. This marks Herzog third diplomatic conversation in recent days, following calls by Jordan’s King Abdullah II, and the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
“The presidents attach great importance to the continuation of contacts and constant dialogue despite all the disagreements, and that’s with the aim of advancing essential steps towards a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which would also contribute towards improving the countries’ relations,” Herzog’s office said in a statement.
The conversation between Herzog and Erdogan lasted for 40 minutes and was “very positive,” the statement added.
