Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on June 15 that Israel had killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps intelligence chief Brig. Gen. Mohammad Kazemi and his deputy, General Hassan Mohaqiq.

“Moments ago, I can tell you we got their chief intelligence officer and his deputy in Tehran,” the primer told Fox News anchor Bret Baier.

Ahead of Netanyahu’s announcement a violent of waves of Israeli strikes hit the heart of the Iranian capital, Tehran, with reports suggesting that the Ministry of Intelligence building was among the targets. The strikes led to a state of panic, with many civilian casualties reported. Thousands were also spotted fleeing the capital.

The opening strikes of Operation Rising Lion – the ongoing Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear program and offensive capabilities – claimed the lives of some of the Islamic Republic’s most senior leaders, including military commander Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC chief Hossein Salami, and head of the Khatam-al Anbiya Central Headquarters, Gholam Ali Rashid.

In addition to military commanders, at least 14 Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed in Israeli attacks, including in car bombs, since the start of the operation on June 13, according to Reuters.

The names of nine of the scientists were published by Israel on June 14, which said that many of them were successors to Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the “father of the Iranian nuclear project,” who was allegedly assassinated by the Mossad spy agency in 2020.

These assassinations, which represented an intelligence success for Israel, crippled Iran’s command and control chain for hours.

Iran’s offensive capabilities, mainly its missile forces, have already recovered. However, the air defenses of the Islamic Republic are still struggling. It is also unclear if the country is taking measures to fix its operation security issues.
