A violent wave of airstrikes hit southern Lebanon late on September 6, with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claiming that it hit multiple rocket launchers of Hezbollah.
Lebanese media said that some 15 strikes targeted the outskirts of the towns of Froun, Ghandourieh and Srifa. Videos posted to social media showed secondary blasts and fires after the airstrikes. Nevertheless, there were no reports of any casualties.
The IDF later announced that the airstrikes destroyed 15 multiple rocket launchers of Hezbollah. In a statement, the military said that some of the launchers were primed for attacks on Israel, adding that rockets were seen flying out of some of the targeted launchers and landing in Lebanese territory.
The airstrikes came after Hezbollah launched seven attacks against Israeli military sites and settlements on the border with Lebanon on September 6, using drones, rockets and other weapons. The attacks caused some material losses, but no casualties.
Hezbollah and its allies have been launching near-daily attacks against Israel in support of the Hamas Movement and other armed factions in the Gaza Strip since the outbreak of the war on the Palestinian enclave last October.
So far, the confrontation has resulted in 26 civilian deaths in Israel and the occupied Golan as well as the deaths of at least 20 soldiers and security officers. On the Lebanese side, more than 870 people have been killed, including 433 fighters of Hezbollah and over 150 civilians.
