The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced on May 22 that it had struck more targets of Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
In a statement, the IDF said that its fighter jets struck a building in the town of Mays al-Jabal after identifying Hezbollah fighters entering the structure.
Additional buildings used by the group in the town of Ayta al-Shab, and observation posts in the towns of Alma ash-Shab, were also hit by fighter jets, the military added.
There were no reports of civilian casualties. However, Hezbollah mourned two fighters. In separate statements, the group said the two were killed “on the road to Jerusalem,” its term for fighters killed by the IDF during the ongoing confrontation on the border.
The Israeli strikes didn’t deter Hezbollah, which announced two attacks against the IDF. The group said its fighters shelled the Sadh border site with artillery and targeted a building occupied by Israeli troops in the settlement of Avivim using suitable weapons. Hebrew media didn’t report any casualties.
The attacks were carried out in support of the Palestinian people and resistance in the Gaza Strip and in response to recent Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon, Hezbollah noted in two statements on the attacks.
Since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza last October, Hezbollah and its allies began launching near-daily attacks against the IDF in support of the Hamas Movement and other Palestinian armed factions in the Strip.
So far, the border clashes have resulted in ten civilian deaths on the Israeli side, as well as the deaths of at least 14 IDF soldiers and reservists. On the Lebanese side, more than 400 people have been killed, including 291 fighters of Hezbollah and at least 70 civilians.
