Kiev forces have launched nearly a dozen attacks in the Kursk direction with no success, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on November 8.
In its daily briefing, the ministry said that the Russian military’s Sever Group of Forces inflicted heavy losses on Ukraine’s 21st, 22nd, 41st, and 115th mechanized brigades, the 17th Tank Brigade, 82nd and 95th air assault brigades, the 36th Marine Brigade, 112th and 129th territorial defense brigades near the settlements of Daryino, Leonidovo, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Novoivanovka, and Plyokhovo.
The group repelled 11 counter-attacks close to the settlements of Daryino, Zeleny Shlyakh, Malaya Loknya, Nikolayevo-Daryino, and Novoivanovka, according to the ministry, which added that an attempt to break through Russian border near the settlement of Novy Put was also thwarted.
“The AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses were up to 80 people killed and wounded, two tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles, four armored fighting vehicles, and four motor vehicles. Two AFU servicemen surrendered,” the ministry continued.
In addition, the ministry announced that Russian air and artillery strikes hit gatherings of the 22nd, 41st, 47th, and 61st mechanized brigades, the 17th Tank Brigade, 80th and 95th air assault brigades, the 36th Marine Brigade as well as the 1st Special Operations Brigade, 112th and 129th territorial defense brigades, and the 17th National Guard Brigade.
The gatherings were struck near the settlements of Aleksandriya, Viktorovka, Guyevo, Daryino, Kolmakov, Kruglenkoye, Kurilovka, Leonidovo, Martynovka, Makhnovka, Melovoye, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Nikolsky, Novaya Sorochina, Novoivanovka, Sverdlikovo, Plyokhovo, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, and Yuzhny.
Other strikes targeted the Ukrainian region of Sumy, hitting the reserves of 21st, 22nd, 47th, 115th mechanized brigades, the 95th Air Assault Brigade, the 1st Special Operations Brigade, and the 129th Territorial Defence Brigade close to the settlements of Basovka, Belovody, Vodolagi, Zhuravka, Miropolye, Pavlovka, and Rechki, according to the ministry.
“Over the past 24 hours, the AFU losses were more than 300 troops, four tanks, six infantry fighting vehicles, six armored fighting vehicles, two mortars, and 11 motor vehicles. Two AFU servicemen surrendered,” the ministry detailed in its briefing.
Separately, the ministry released videos showing some of the recent air and artillery strikes that hit Kiev forces in the Kursk direction.
Kiev forces launched a surprise attack into Kursk from Sumy last August. The Russian military is currently conducting a counter-attack there. Half of the occupied territories have been already liberated.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 30,500 troops, 189 tanks, 121 infantry fighting vehicles, 107 armored personnel carriers, 1,094 armored fighting vehicles, 829 motor vehicles, 262 artillery guns, 40 launchers, including 11 American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, 11 air defense systems, seven transport-loading vehicles, 59 electronic warfare stations, 12 counter-battery radars, four aerial radars, 26 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, five armored recovery vehicle, and one command post vehicle.
