On June 17, Kiev forces launched a new wave of attacks in the Zaporozhye and south Donetsk sectors as a part of their spring counteroffensive.
Heavy fighting is currently taking place in the direction of the settlements of Nikolskoe, Pavlovka, Vladimirovka near the areas of Ugledar and Pyatihatki in Donetsk as well as near the settlements of Makarovka, Staromaiskoe and Urojainoe in Zaporozhye.
New video footage showed recent Ukrainian losses near the settlement of Chasov Yar in the Bakhmut direction in Donetsk and in another unspecified area in the special military operation zone.
Other videos show recent strikes by Russian Ka-52 attack helicopters on armored vehicles of Kiev forces, including an American-made MaxxPro, as well as an attack with Geran suicide drones on a Ukrainain P-18 surveillance radar.
Meanwhile in the direction of Kherson, Kiev forces made several failed attempts to cross the Dnieper River. Recent videos showed the destruction of several Ukrainian boats in the river, as well as artillery strikes against Ukrainian special forces and saboteurs on the western bank.
Despite sustained heavy losses, Kiev forces have failed to make any meaningful gains on the ground since launching their counter offensive on June 4.
Ukraine has already lost as much as 30% of its Western-supplied equipment, including many German-made Leopard 2 main battle tanks and American-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, according to recent statements by Russian President Vladmir Putin.
According to a new report by Germany’s Der Spiegel, Ukrainian service members are imitating breakdowns in their Leopard 2 tanks and other equipment in order to avoid going on the offensive. One service member told the outlet describing his experience with the tank that once the turret is hit, “you are just a pile of ashes.”
