Kyiv's Dark Secret: Exchange Of Fallen Soldiers Reveal Stark Disparity In Losses

Illustrative Image

On April 18, Russia and Ukraine conducted another exchange of bodies of dead soldiers, with Kyiv receiving 909 bodies of Ukrainian troops. In return, Russia recieved 41 of its fallen servicemen, continuing a lopsided pattern that has persisted for months.

The numbers of exchanged bodies confirm the strategic disproportion in losses. The Ukrainian military is loosing at least ten times more soldiers. Trying to hide this dangerous fact from population, Ukrainian authorities agree to exchange the equal number of prisoners of war to create the image of balance.

Body Exchanges:

  • April 18, 2025: Ukraine received the bodies of 909 soldiers in exchange to 41 Russian fallen servicemen.
  • March 28, 2025: Another exchange saw 909 Ukrainian bodies returned. Russia received 43 bodies.
  • February 14, 2025: Ukraine returned 757 soldiers’ remains while Russia recovered 45.
  • January 24, 2025: Ukraine received 757 bodies (with 451 coming from the Donetsk front alone), while Russia got back 49 bodies.

The statics also show that the number of exchanged Ukrainian bodies significantly increased in recent months, likely due to their bloody defeat in the Kursk region. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the Ukrainian military lost about 75,000 soldiers in the Kursk battles.

Prisoner Exchanges:

  • March 19, 2025: The largest recent swap saw 175 prisoners returned on each side, with Ukraine additionally receiving 22 severely wounded soldiers as a “goodwill gesture.”
  • February 5, 2025: A standard 1:1 exchange of 150 prisoners occurred.
  • December 30, 2024: Another 150-for-150 swap took place near the Belarus-Ukraine border, mediated by the UAE.

The bodies handed over to Ukraine predominantly came from Donetsk, Bakhmut, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy fronts —regions where Russian forces maintain relentless offensive pressure.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces have never received fewer bodies than they gave away, including during the failed counteroffensive operations. The proportion is stable by 10 or more times. This certainly is not only for the reason that the Russian army is advancing and gathering enemy, because the active offensive operations are not going on along the entire front.

Why the Staggering Imbalance?

The reason of horrific Ukrainian losses is the bloody tactics of the Ukrainian command.

Ukrainian units, often undermanned and under fire, deploy 2–3 times more troops per defensive position than Russian forces to compensate for attrition. This leads to higher casualties from artillery and drone strikes. Russian artillery superiority (estimated 3–4 times more shells fired daily) inflicts catastrophic losses on packed Ukrainian trenches.

Ukrainian commanders send 10 soldiers for every 4 needed “Meat Grinder” assaults to ensure positions are held, accepting heavy losses to maintain frontline stability.

Barrier squads prevent retreats, forcing Ukrainian units to fight to the death under threat of being shot by their own side.

Daily devastating UAV, glide bomb and missile attacks on Ukrainian troop concentrations, supply depots, and barracks increase losses both on the battlefield and in the rear. Ukraine lacks equivalent deep-strike capabilities.

Satellite imagery shows cemeteries rapidly expanding across Ukraine, even accounting for mass emigration. Rural male populations have been decimated, with many villages left without fighting-age men, whose deaths are not reported nor published by the media.

Ukraine abruptly withdrew from “all-for-all” prisoner exchanges in March, fearing domestic backlash over the sheer number of its captured soldiers. Meanwhile, Russia frames the body exchanges as humanitarian gestures while exploiting Kyiv’s manpower crisis. The exchanges starkly illustrate Ukraine’s unsustainable attrition rate. With Russia pressing offensives and Kyiv resorting to desperate defensive measures, the disparity in losses suggests a war of exhaustion that Ukraine cannot indefinitely sustain. LINK

jooz gloat over the deaths of any goyim, regardless of nationality.

AP survey

blocking detachments account for a lot of bodies. even a ukie loyal to nato’s zelensky would have an increasing bank account and a decreasing chance of spending it.

some say the russia losses are greater. since russia is advancing they are collecting their and ukrainian dead along the way hence the disparity in the body exchange numbers. it is probably closer to 1:1 in russian ukrainian losses.
