Landmines Kill, Injure Several Turkish-Backed Militants In Northeast Syria

On April 23, several landmines exploded in the Turkish-occupied part of northeast Syria, killing or injuring a number of militants.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the explosions took place in the towns of al-Ahras and al-Aamriyeh near the border town of Ras al-Ain in the northern countryside of al-Hasakah.

“As a result [of the landmines explosions] members of pro-Ankara factions, which control the region, were killed or injured,” the London-based group said.

Local sources said at least three Turkish-backed militants were killed in the explosions. Several others were reportedly injured.

A week ago, a booby-trapped vehicle exploded next to a position of the Turkish military and its proxies in al-Ahras. The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) and the SOHR claimed that several Turkish service members were killed or injured in the explosion. However, these claims were not verified.

It’s still unclear if the landmines in al-Ahras and al-Aamriyeh exploded by accident or as a result of a planned attack on Turkish forces.

Do the SOHR release this type of info in an effort to whip up some sympathy for terrorists? If so, it ain’t working. There probably isn’t enough terrorists in the ranks so are having to spread themselves around. :)

How can a landmine go off by accident? Did the dimwits set those upside down then touched them off by tamping down the dirt that was laid on top to conceal them?
