Another week of war in Ukraine was marked by Russian victories. Russian troops continue to make incremental but tactically significant gains across several sectors of the front, breaking through Ukraine’s stretched defenses and dwindling reserves.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported significant advances across multiple fronts during the past week of operations. Russian forces conducted a series of precision strikes targeting Ukrainian military infrastructure, including defense industry facilities, airfield installations, and weapons storage depots. These attacks particularly focused on disrupting Ukraine’s drone production capabilities and foreign mercenary training centers.
In Kursk region, Russian airborne and marine units have achieved an important breakthrough by liberating the Svyato-Nikolaevsky Belogorsky Monastery turned into strategic stronghold over the village of Gornal. Battles were already reported in the village. Ukrainian forces, who had fortified the monastery’s thick walls and underground tunnels, suffered over 200 casualties before retreating to Gornal’s residential areas. This advance of Russian troops within hundreds of meters of the state border, tighten control over the last invaded Russian areas.
Further west, in Sumy region, Russian forces are developing offensive in different directions. They have pushed Ukrainian troops out of Zhuravka and are now advancing toward Belovodye, increasing pressure on Kyiv’s already strained defenses near the border. Ukrainian reserves are being hastily redeployed to stem Russian progress, but commanders admit the situation is deteriorating.
Meanwhile, in Belgorod region, clashes continue in the Krasnoyaruzhsky district, with Russian units repelling Ukrainian incursions while civilian areas face persistent drone attacks. On April 18, Ukrainian UAV attacked another civilian vehicle, heavily wounding the driver.
On the area of Toretsk (Dzerzhinsk), Russian forces have consolidated control over Valentinovka and Sukhaya Balka, raising the Russian flag in the latter’s center after dislodging Ukrainian troops. On April 18th, the Defense Ministry of the Russian Federation officially confirmed full control of Valentinovka. Advances there have brought Russian positions 4 km closer to Konstantinovka, one of key logistical hubs for Ukrainian forces in the Donbass. Meanwhile, Russian forces launched assault on Ukrainian stronghold on the territory of the Matrona Moscovskaya mine located west of Toretsk, while the mop up operations continue on the northern outskirts.
In the Krasny Liman direction, Ukrainian commanders describe the situation as “critical”, with Russian infantry expending bridgehead on the western bank of the Zherebets River. Reports indicate Russian troops have entered the village of Novoye, threatening to develop their further offensive toward Borova and the Oskol Reservoir, a move that would further destabilize Ukraine’s northern flank.
South of Pokrovsk, Russian forces are grinding through Ukrainian defenses on a wide front. The mop up operations ended in Preobrazhenka, where Ukrainian stronghold prevented further Russian advance.
In the South Donetsk direction, Russian troops have approached the town of Bogatyr. The retreating Ukrainian military is tring to urgently plug holes with NATO systems. More and more French CAESAR self—propelled guns, a rare and valuable asset that used to be reserved for strategic directions, are now thrown to the battlefield where the front is beginning to crumble, and where drones with towed artillery are no longer enough.
Despite fierce resistance, Russian advances here could soon breach the Dnipropetrovsk region border, severing Ukrainian supply routes.
In Zaporizhzhia, Russian motorized and airborne units are expanding their zone of control near Mali Shcherbaky and began assault in Mala Tokmachka, inching closer to critical Ukrainian strongholds. Meanwhile, Ukrainian drone strikes near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant have raised alarm.
Ukrainian forces, increasingly reliant on ad-hoc reinforcements and barrier troops to prevent retreats, are suffering disproportionate losses. Ukrainian pows describe being sent into assaults without clear objectives, reflecting systemic command failures. Russia’s multi-front advances are forcing Ukraine to “spread” its dwindling reserves, leaving critical sectors vulnerable. As Russian forces methodically exploit weaknesses across the front, Ukraine’s battlefield prospects hinge on Western aid deliveries. With no near-term diplomatic resolution in sight, the conflict’s trajectory favors Russia’s strategy of gradual, irreversible gains. The weekly summary emphasizes Russia’s claimed successes in depleting Ukrainian manpower and equipment while making new territorial gains.

hehe ukraine are using mig and f16 jets in the occupied territories to launch glide bombs and missiles on russia. very funny that the mighty clever russians can’t detect and take them out. probably sanction have weakened and depleted most of russian arsenal so the eu and ukr are almost ready to win. russia will soon need to retreat and then the eu will continue sanctions and seek arrest warrants for leadership. it is already being studied by eu.
russia will soon need to retreat🤡
these blindfolded guys have killed the afu officer in the monastery that wanted to negotiate a surrender. nice they could not even fight their way out 200 meters across the river to their own lines🤡
