A brief overview of the recent developments in Afghanistan:
- At least five policemen were killed and three other police were wounded in a Taliban attack on their checkpoint in Trinkot city, the capital of Uruzgan province overnight on April 20;
- At least 28 pro-government fighters were killed in Taliban attacks in the Khwaja Ghar district of Takhar province and the Sholgara district of Balkh province overnight on April 20, according to pro-government sources;
- The Taliban claimed on April 19 that government forces had killed a civilian and a child in Maidan Shar, the provincial capital of Wardak province.
