- At least 2 security personnel were killed and 26 people were wounded in a SVBIED attack close to the police headquarters of the Alishing district, Laghman province;
- At least 28 civilians were killed and 249 others were wounded during the September 28 Afghan Presidential Election, the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan said on October 15;
- A Mi-17 military helicopter crashed on October 15 evening in the Hairatan area of Balkh province. All seven people on board died;
- The Indian government donated two Mi-35 helicopters to Afghan forces, the Ministry of Defense said;
- At least 2 civilians were killed and 6 others were wounded in an airstrike on the Warduj district, Badakhshan province;
- 10 civilians were killed and 20 others were wounded in the districts of Nirkh and Wardaj of Badakhshan province, and the Sholgara district of Balkh province, the Taliban said.
