2. destroy Ukraines ability to wage war and

1. Russia has secured around 80% of the Donbas and Ukrainian forces that are left are being taken apart and retreating.
2. Ukraine started this war with an airforce, 2600 tube artillery and 500 MLRS artillery … for months now Ukraine has been crying for artillery and aircraft … what happened to the equipment they started with? sounds like Russia is pretty successful in destroying Ukraines potential to wage war.
3. I don’t know where they are in de-nazification however they’ve killed and captured a shitload.
The lights are still on in Kiev and the rest of Ukraine. Russia has never said they intend to change the Kiev regime or even capture kiev …. they have no intention of ruling over Galicians … they tried that and the won’t be stepping on that rake again. I do expect them to take karkhov and Odessa once the Donbas is settled.

The winter war is a poor comparison, the weather, the terrain and the defensive obstacles the Finns had were extremely difficult. There is nothing similar to that in Ukraine. It’s true the Russians outnumbered the Germans badly, but the Germans outfought the English and the US on a man-for-man basis, also. The SU troops were trained, armed, and positioned for offense, defense never entered Stalin’s thinking, he even destroyed some of his defensive works and left the rest of it unmanned. Stalin never believed Hitler would be suicidal enough to start a second front, and didn’t believe his own intelligence, he thought Hitler’s buildup was a bluff.

In truth, the terrain where that battle was fought consists almost exclusively of lakes and isthmuses. That terrain is ideally suited for defensive warfare. All the isthmuses form bottlenecks which deprived the cramped Russian columns of maximum offensive power. Of course the Finns had an easy time wiping out advancing columns.
The Finns were defending the literal equivalent of natural fortress. A rule of thumb in warfare is that attackers need superiority in numbers of at least 3 to 1 to succeed. Therefore, 950,000 Russians attacking 280,000 Finns makes sense. It’s not surprising that the Russians struggled to overrun the Finnish positions given the difficult terrain.
