A brief overview of the recent developments in Iraq:

• The Basra Operations Command began a major security inspection operation in the Basra governorate, in which the Iraqi Army units, the Marine Corps Brigade, the Border Guard and the Emergency Police take part;
• 2 Iraqi soldiers were killed in an IED explosion in the Wadi Tharthar area, northwest of Baghdad;
• Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met with President Erdogan and Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu;
• According to Iraqi MoD, Iraqi F-16s targeted ISIS hideouts in the Hamrin Mountain area.
