  • Government of National Accord (GNA) forces detained 2 Russians accusing them of attempts to ‘influence Libyan elections’;
  • Clashes between GNA forces and the Libyan National Army (LNA) continue near the Tripoli International Airport and nearby areas;
  • Rocket shelling hit the GNA-controlled Mitiga Airport. An Airbus A320 was reportedly damaged..

By July 2019, the LNA advance to capture the Libyan city of Tripoli had appeared to be at a dead set. Turkish backing of GNA forces and the LNA’s lack of coordination during the operaiton put an end to hopes of the LNA leadership to take control of the country’s capital in the near future. In the current situation, the main LNA goal is to at least secure the previously made gains and prevent a further collapse of its positions in the area that some Western experts expected after the loss of Garyan.

No one is winning only the people are losing. It is time Libya brought back elder statesmen and technocrats to steer the nation in the right direction. A create truth and justice council will help the people heal from 40 years of a one man system and 8 years of insane fighting. It is a rich nation with vast resources, a large shoreline along the med sea and a population that shares the same religion and history. If only the armed groups put down their weapons and set a timeframe and elections with a unity government and an army that protects her citizens, no self serving individuals have the moral authority to deciee what is good or bwd for the nation.

Erdogan and Qatar with their Muslim Brotherhood may have stopped Haftar, or maybe not. Egypt has a huge military as yet not involved, and the MB forming a government next door would not be in Egypt’s interest. Haftar can still unite Libya, will France back him. Erdogan still has not dealt with the Kurds east of the Euphrates, he may have over extended himself. Will he loose 30 % of Turkey, or go for the cheap oil.

the kurds are no a military problem for Ankara, only the pretext to intervene in Syria…
