A brief overview of the recent developments in Syria:
- On January 11, an IED blast erupted in Jarablus town;
- On January 11, a series of demonstrations against the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) took place in the town of al-Shaddadi. Recently, the SDF arrested several locals under for a forced conscription in its ranks;
- On January 11, artillery of Turkish-backed forces shelled positions of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the Jurin area;
- On January 11, artillery of Turkish-backed forces shelled positions of the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the Tal Rafaat area;
- On January 12, unidentified gunmen opened fire at a car of the leader of the Syrian National Army near Akhtarin.

“An explosion was heard that shook the city of Al-Bukamal near the Syrian-Iraqi border, coinciding with the flight of unknown drones overhead.”

13th dec, “Explosions sounded in the countryside of Albu Kamal, east of Deir Ezzor.”
“Many loyalist pages claiming Israel i or @CJTFOIR airstrikes hit the cities of Deir Ez Zor, Boukamal, and Ayyash 1 hour ago. Photo below supposedly shows aftermath of one such strike.”
“Confirmed. Vehicles belonging to the IRGC and Liwa Fatimiyoun were destroyed by Israeli airstrikes in Bukamal. At least 10 airstrikes in total but could be as high as 15. At least 6 locations hit.”
“Syria state news citing limitary source says citing: “At 1:10am Tuesday the Israeli enemy launched an air aggression against the city of Deir Ezzor and Al-Bukamal areas. The results of the aggression are currently being checked.”
“Warplanes targeted Iranian headquarters in the outskirts of Al-Mayadeen city a few minutes after Aiyash warehouses, which contains Iranian militias in western Deir Ezzor were targeted.”
“Deir Ezzor, Sada Al Sharqiya correspondent from the city of Deir Ezzor, the sounds of successive explosions after bombing by unidentified aircraft are being heard all over the city. According to the reporter, sounds are heard near Deir Ezzor airport, accompanied by the sounds of ambulances.”
“Loud explosions heard south Ghanem al-Ali town, Raqqa eastern countryside where Iranian forces are stationed.”
Pretty extensive and wide ranging attacks from Israel, all over Deir ez Zor and even locations in Ar Raqqah, coincidentally the strike in Ar Raqqah only about 30 to 40 km away from where the SAA and Russia are currently fighting Isis. Now we await the results, and I suspect the Iranians got a really good hammering this time, and I also suspect there were a few unmarked US drones assisting.
