A brief overview of the recent developments in Syria:
- -n January 19, artillery of Turkish-backed forces shelled YPG positions near Minagh Airbase;
- On January 19, the Turkish Army sent a new logistical reinforcements convoy to Syria via the Kafr Lusin crossing;
- On January 19, Russian forces established a new military post in the town of Saraqib;
- On January 19, a total of 7 oil tanks were destroyed in blast which struck the Homs Refinery. No casualties were reported and the cause of explosion is unknown.
“South Syria: today another reconciled Rebel who joined the Military Security was shot dead in Daraa province (4th one in ~36 hours). Gunmen on motorcycle killed him on road between Yaduda & Muzayrib”
“South Syria: Daraa witnessed many assassinations past 24 hours: – body ex-Rebel who joined the Military Security found in town of Daraa (executed) – ex-Rebel who worked for 4th Division shot dead in Sahem Golan (1) – ex-Rebel linked to the Mil. Security shot dead in Nahata”
“Aleppo correspondent today: The body of a person called “Shehadeh Al-Masalama,” a member of the Military Security Branch in Daraa, was found”
“Daraa:A defecting officer with the rank of colonel was killed in one of the government’s prisons”
“South Syria: last night a Police/Internal Security Forces patrol was ambushed by gunmen on a road near Baath City (Quneitra province). One First Lieutenant killed (pic) and 2 wounded. An IED also killed a NDF fighter (Golan regiment) in the S. province (Qasibah)”
The war where more people are assassinated than actually killed in open combat.
And according to reports 5% of the SAA and NDF forces in Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa and Aleppo have already been released from military service, that was quick.
I hope the Russians have a plan to deal with the new US regime’s plan to restart their intervention in Syria. This time they’ll be aggressively gunning for Russian troops. Soon, the Islamists are going to be using sophisticated antitank weapons and MANPAD’s against Russian and Syrian forces.
