It looks that so far the main achieved of the new Armenian goverment is that US officials have started publicly advising it how to employ its foreign policy course.
On September 5, US Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills stated that Armenia has to respond to Russia’s statements concerning the situation in the country. Mills went further and offered encouragement for an investigation launched by the Armenian government into the “2008 events” in late June. Many described thsi move as an attempt to put pressure on the government’s political opponents – former President Robert Kocharian, Colonel General Yuri Khachaturov and some other former senior officials.
The remarks made on the sidelines of a business event in Yerevan carried out a storm in the Armenian media. So, the US embassy was forced to release what it described as a “transcript” of the statement.
According to the released “transcript”, the ambassador’s words were:
“I have seen those comments. It is for the Armenian government to respond to comments from the Russian government. Our view remains that there has been a need for a thorough and fair investigation into the events of March 2008, and it is important that that investigation be carried out in accordance with the rule of law and Armenian due process.”
In any case, the US is openly supporting what Russia describes as political-motivated prosecutions in Armenia.
“Of course, we are worried by the circumstance that the situation in Armenia remains heated, events that happened 10 years ago are being investigated… No doubt, we consider those to be an internal affair of Armenia and wish that internal affairs remain within the framework of law and on the firm basis of the Constitution and be overcome quickly,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said commenting on this situation.
Since current Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan came to power following a series of street protests, the situation in the country has remained complicated in political and economic terms. At the same time, thanks to long-time anti-Russian rhetorics of Pashinyan and his allies, the Armenian government has also found itself in a complicated diplomatic situation.
Russia is a key Armenian ally and a de-facto guarantor of its territorial integrity. Nonetheless, the role of Armenia for the Russian state is step by step decreasing. This, especially in ligh of the “pro-Western” course of the new government, undermines the diplomatic stance of the country in the region.
Another puppet government licking Big Brother’s ass. Give them some more time and Armenia will be the next Ukraine. I mean ruined, indebted and war torn. Oh sorry. I nearly forgot. USA protector will give them “democracy”. And Mr. Soros and his minions will be happy to dance on Armenian graves.
Strategically dir Russia it is more importante relation with Turkey – the only other trading partner with a border is Iran but for sure the new American masters will not allow that.

very complicated…because if Armenia play the Georgian card..it is to become a NATO puppet…then will lose Nagorno Karabaj and petrol gas suppliers from Iran…Armenia should look at Georgia…they have lost parts ot its territory in exchange of transit gas from Caspian and some alms….

If Armenians & specifically, young Armenians want to be “American” they can go to America and wear their Levis there and scoff their McDonalds BigMac’s but, if they want their Country to survive, remembering the Massacre of Armenian Christians by the Ottomans and Kurds in 1915, they’d better remember who their friends are and those who have guaranteed the survival of their Sovereignty & Culture. Those Friends are not in Washington or at NATO HQ but they ARE in Moscow and in Tehran and in Syria.

In 2003, 2000 Polish butchers helped USA invaded Iraq and there are another 300 Polish butchers permanently located in Afghanistan. Some US military bases on their soil and one russophobic son of the bitch in Europarlament (Tusk), that is all. Polish still need visa if they want go to Murrica and they will never be allowed to work on Murrica’s market, because there are countless black ne…es doing 2nd and 3rd class manual jobs and countless other ne…es on foodstamps. The point I was actually making is that young Armenians can be sucked in to the glossy Television & Media version of America without really realizing just how despicable can be the treatment meted out to Nationals of most post-Soviet Eastern European & S Russian Republics ….. and to Nationals of Middle Eastern Countries regardless whether they be Muslim or Christian or Jewish ………… AND that although they be protesting in pursuit of Internationally recognized Principles of Democracy they really cannot allow themselves to fall into the trap of believing that (even) if they manage to construct a Republic worthy of that term, they should look around themselves and see who and what Countries and Economies can protect, help and assist if and when the Sun no longer shines and there is economic meltdown, recession and depression : see the experience of Greece AND of Syria. America only seeks countries all across Europe and across the Middle East and South Caucasus as Pawns in “The Great Game” ………. Armenians need to rely on themselves first and no-one else ……… certainly not America that lies on the far side of the world
Why should they leave their country? They are at home and they are the owners of country. the politicians have to follow the will of citizens!
I agree with you PROVIDED that the new Government isn’t a ‘Trojan Horse’ for Armenia to become just another Pawn in the hands of Washington. Whatever else you do, retain your political and economic independence. Declare yourselves Neutral in Military and Defence terms and align yourselves with the non-aligned Nations of the world while at all times remembering that your closest and largest Economic partners …….. imports & exports, language, culture …… are those who are and who will remain most important to you. I would certainly ensure that I retain close relationships with both Moscow and Tehran to act as a counter-balance against Turkey!!
Armenia has the right to get rosy Nike shoes, Iphones, Coca-cola, jobs in International agencies, EU membership and dollar bribes. All what many of you got in the past from your friendships with USA, but now want to deny us in Armenia you naughty hypocrites.
Your talk of rights makes you sound American… perhaps you should take the caution from others more as advice for a child from other children victims of a pedo priest offering you gifts and sugary treats, than as some one on a life raft telling you is it such a beautiful day that you are lucky to be swimming..
