Footage posted to social networks or shared by news agencies between March 18 and 20 showed loads of Western-made weapons which were abandoned by Kiev forces during their hasty retreat from the Russian region of Kursk, with some of the equipment appearing to be in an operational condition.
The weapons included two main battle tanks, a fully destroyed American-made M1A1SA Abrams and a slightly damaged German-made Leopard 2A6.
Five infantry fighting vehicles, including four American-made M2A2 ODS-SA Bradley and a German-made Marder 1A3, can also be seen in the footage.

In addition, the videos and photos showed: Three armored personnel carriers, an American-made M113 and two French-made VAB; An American-made M577 armored command vehicle; Two German-made Bergepanzer 2 armored recovery vehicles; Four mine-resistant ambush protected vehicle, two Turkish-made BMC Kirpi, an American-made M1224 MaxxPro and an Australian-made Bushmaster; An American-made M777 155 mm towed howitzer.

Kiev forces invaded Kursk on August 6 of last year, relying mainly on Western-made weapons and foreign mercenaries. The Russian military halted the Ukrainian attack within a few days, and the final offensive to clear the region began earlier this month.
During a March 12 visit to a command post in Kursk Oblast, President Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian military to “fully liberate” the region. On the very next day, the key city of Sudzha was liberated by Russian troops.
By March 16, Kiev forces had very much withdrawn from all of Kursk aside from the border settlements of Gornal and Gogolevka.
Ukrainian soldiers who retreated from Kursk said that the retreat was disorderly and “catastrophic,” according to a BBC report from March 17.
In a briefing on March 19, the Russian Ministry of Defense revealed that 68,630 Ukrainian troops had been naturalized since the start of the battle in the region.
The ministry stated that Kiev forces also lost 398 tanks, 320 infantry fighting vehicles, 289 armored personnel carriers, 2,204 armored fighting vehicles, 2,473 motor vehicles, 567 artillery guns, 52 MLRS launchers, including 13 American-made HIMARS and seven MLRS, 26 anti-aircraft missile launchers, one self-propelled anti-aircraft system, ten transport-loading vehicles, 120 EW stations, 18 counter-battery warfare radars, ten air defense radars, 56 units of engineering, including 23 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, five bridge launchers, one engineering reconnaissance vehicle, as well as 15 armored recovery vehicles, and one command post vehicle.
