On May 12, a new wave of Russian airstrikes hit the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib, which is ruled by al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).
According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out at least four airstrikes on the outskirts of the towns of Marzaf, Moataf and Kfar Ata in the southern Idlib countryside.
The airstrikes coincided with artillery strikes by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on the outskirts of the town of Kabani in the northern countryside of Lattakia.
The Russian and Syrian strikes were likely a response to recent violations of the ceasefire in Greater Idlib by HTS and its allies.
A day earlier, a series of Russian airstrikes targeted the outskirts of the town of Benin in the southern countryside of Idlib. The airstrikes were a response to an indirect fire attack by HTS or one of its allies that claimed the life of an SAA soldier.
In the last few weeks, the security situation in Greater Idlib deteriorated as a result of repeated ceasefire violations by HTS and its allies.
Turkey, who helped broker the ceasefire along with Russia more than two years ago, has been doing nothing to stop these violations. Ankara’s forces in Greater Idlib have been acting as shields for HTS and its allies.
Russian will be facing troubles in Ukraine, yet will provide a lot of DISGUSTING unhuman kebap before the worlds “The End”!
