On January 5, a new rocket attack targeted US-led coalition positions inside Ayn al-Assad Air Base in the western Iraqi province of al-Anbar.

BBC journalist Nafiseh Kohnavard said that five rockets hit the vicinity of the air base, with the closest landing two kilometers away from the base. A source in the US-led coalition confirmed to the journalist that the attack was “unsuccessful” and that there were no impacts inside the base.

The rockets were fired from an improvised launcher that hidden inside a minivan. Iraqi security forces uncovered the launchers only a few minutes after the attack.

In a brief statement, the Iraqi Security Media Cells said that the attack is being investigated without providing any further details.

This was not the first attack on US-led coalition positions in Iraq today. In the morning, an Iranian-made heavy rocket struck the US Camp Victory military base near Baghdad International Airport.

The recent attacks were most likely carried out by pro-Iranian forces in Iraq in the memory of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Deputy-Commander of the Popular Mobilization Units, and Iran’s Quds Force Commander Maj. Gen. Qassim Soleimani who were assassinated by the US around two years ago.

The US-led coalition is yet to respond to the recent attacks on its positions in Iraq. Any harsh response could lead to a very serious escalation.

The closest rocket landed two kilometers away.. The only way that would hurt is if the Yanks fell over laughing. That is a joke and a waste of rockets.

The end

tell that to the low life US grunt in the field. I am sure they are shitting their pants every time something hits even if 2 clicks away. Main thing is, they are being kept awake, the psychological pressure is also good remedy for invaders.
