The Kyiv regime launched a large-scale strike on Russian regions with 174 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
Strikes on Russia
On January 5, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that over the past 24 hours its air defense shot down three French-made Hammer guided aerial bombs, one U.S.-made HIMARS MLRS projectile, and 174 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles.
A part of these UAVs was involved in a night attack on Russian regions. Over the past night, Russian air defense intercepted 61 Ukrainian UAVs. 37 UAVs were destroyed over the territory of the Rostov region, 20 – over the territory of the Bryansk region, two – over the territory of the Voronezh region, one – over the territory of the Belgorod region and one – over the territory of the Oryol region.
According to Yury Slyusar, the acting governor of Rostov region, the property of residents of Taganrog and Neklinovsky districts was damaged by falling debris, the amount of damage is being clarified.
Also, at 10:00-12:00 local time, Russian air defense neutralized 5 UAVs. Three UAVs were – over the territory of the Belgorod region and two – over the territory of the Kursk region.
At 12:55-14:00 local time, Russian air defense systems on duty destroyed two Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the Belgorod and Kursk regions.
In the Belgorod region the damage was caused to the building of a social facility, residential houses, cars. An FPV drone attacked agricultural machinery on the section of the road Cheremoshnoye – Nikolskoye. The equipment caught fire and the driver was injured.
Additionally, fighter aviation of Russian Aerospace Forces shot down one MiG-29 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force.
It is interesting to note that a large number of Soviet-era MiG-29 warplanes have been delivered to Kyiv by its foreign backers. Supplies of weapons, repair parts and assistance in operational planning were also included.
Strikes on Ukraine
On January 5, the Russian Defense Ministry revealed in a statement that Operational-Tactical Aviation, attack unmanned aerial vehicles, Missile Troops and Artillery of the Russian Groups of Forces have engaged the infrastructure of military airfields as well as clusters of enemy manpower and military hardware in 137 areas.
Besides this, according to local media, the Russian military continues its campaign of destroying military infrastructure in the rear of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian strikes reportedly hit targets in the regions of Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhia, Chernihiv and Kyiv. Explosions were also reported in the parts of the Donetsk People’s Republic and Kherson region, which are in the hands of the Kyiv regime.
