An airstrike of the US Air Force in Syria killed one of the senior leaders of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group, Wa’il Adil Hasan Salman al-Fayad, spokesman for the Pentagon, Peter Cook, said.
Also known under the pseudonym ‘Doctor Wael’, he was the ‘minister of information’ of the IS and was responsible for production of propagandistic video with scenes of torture and executions.
According to the Pentagon’s statement, the airstrike that killed al-Fayad, was carried out by the coalition in the area of the Syrian city of Raqqa on September 7.
Al-Fayad was considered as the closest teammate of ‘press secretary’ of the IS, Abu Muhammad al-Adnani, who was killed last month.
“The killing of the senior leader of the IS will reduce its ability to hold the territory, as well as to plan, finance and lead attacks inside and outside the region,” Cook said.
What was that, the pentagon? well it must be true then. Chances are he has just been transferred to another unit or a pentagon desk job. They killed the name only and now he can go back to using his real name.
