PYD Denies Reports About Negotiations With Syrian Government Over Afrin

Source: bbc.co.uk

Leader of the Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), Salih Muslim Muhammad, has denied the existence of any secret negotiations between the PYD and the Syrian government over the Afrin area north of Aleppo. Earlier some sources from the Kurdish National Council in Syria announced that there is negotiations to hand over Afrin to the Syrian government in order to avoid a Turkish military operation there.

Furthermore, the PYD leader confirmed that statements made by YPG Leader, Siban Hamo, represents the official position of the party, saying “Hamo’s statements represent our official position in the Democratic Union Party.” Hamo had previously accused Russia, the Syrian government and Turkey of plotting against Kurds in Afrin.

The YPG is a military wing of the PYD. The YPG and its female version YPJ are a core of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Fores (SDF).

From its side, the Al-Masdar News site claimed that official sources from the Syrian government confirmed to it the existence of negotiations between the Syrian government and the Kurdish side to hand over Afrin area to government forces.

However, no details are available on the role of YPG in the event of reaching an agreement. The YPG may be forced to withdraw all its troops from Afrin with the deployment of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) there. Or some YPG groups may remain in the area, while handing over the authorities in the area to the SAA and the government. In any case, the claims about possible agreement in Afrin remain unconfirmed.

Turkish UAVs flew for long periods yesterday over Afrin area, indicating Turkey’s determination to launch a military operation soon. Although the PYD wants to show itself as the strong side, but in reality like in Manbij the Kurds will have to listen to the other sides in the final of story .

Plan B was to partition Syria, and thete you go. The Euphrates river will be the border line of the new country kurdistan. And bkth sidez of the dam so they can have their own electricity… Fucking chaos always…

G Dean VanGaya

Gesellmann. Damascus can take the PYD up on their offer for a federated Syria. It’s a normal kind of country, like Switzerland, is basically the united Syria that Tev-Dem/PYD are proposing. It is a system of direct democracy – there are hundreds of local assemblies now. Rojave, now renamed the non-sectarian name of Democratic Federation of Norther Syria is more a democracy by and for Syrians than there ever was under the Ba’athists. If Assad does not enter into the talks that the PYD has offered then it is Damascus who no longer has legitimacy as the government of Syrian people.

The things you say are so full of shit , you don’t think to compare places that are moving away from such ideas because they are more divisive than inclusive . The Kurds federated nonsense is just that and not legitimate in anyway , they lost the legitimacy long ago . The US wants this so they can have Israel come in and make all of you the Palestinian people . This is why cantons have never worked , Switzerland could be a much better country but they are also divided along this type of political lunacy and are always at each others throat . This just helps to spread racism and hatred .

Anything you say makes no sense to any sane and logical person .

Dustil schmit

So you mocking all federated states including Russia or you just full of shit like usual?

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Just telling what it creates and Russia doesn’t segregate , when you segregate that tends to aggravate . The simple way explaining this imagine the US split into cantons with is current way being divisive , can you imagine what would happen . The current system hasn’t been too helpful to those locally but more to those federally . Talk about one being naive systems everywhere seem to fail when they are centralized , look at the many systems in place right now all failing .

Störtebembel

So you decribe new political movments as SHIT, but what do you offer instead? The good old one nation, one leader shit? Puke!!! Biji + tiocfaish ár lá!

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They are old but even the one you mentioned dates back hundreds of years , they don’t work so well and always have been to the detriment of society progression . This is nothing but regression to the oldest political system no future progress here but definitive regression.

Absolutely correct. The idea behind plan B and the subsequent march 15th, 2016 declaration of federation by the Kurds in hasakah was to divide Syria into six mini-states where each is a different ethnic group.

Divide and conquer. These federations would never cooperate or cease fighting, the talk of Syria remaining undivided is a shame. Federations will permanently divide Syria and destroy its unity.

Shortly after the march 15th declaration, on April 20th Kurds attacks local Syrian army and NDF forces, pulled down the Syrian flag and raised a Kurdish flag. All talk about the federation being democratic is lies.

Plan B openly admits it will not be democratic. Anyone with Google access can read what John Bolton described it. He stated it would be “no Jeffersonian democracy”. Biggest understatement.

G Dean VanGaya

Well then you better start working with TEV-DEM to counter the ‘great powers’. PYD and TEV-DEM and YPG are staring down a million man army and telling all the great powers to frick off. That’s revolutionary integrity. Screw Bolton, Erdogan, Tel Aviv’s partition. The revolution can take care of it itself. The U.S. special forces have to move back to Erbil sometime, they have a war with Iran to fight. Direct democracy must come to Damascus, confederate the whole country and defeat the Zionists!

Ronald

Autonomy for the Kurdish people is acceptable , but not federation . Federation – “a nation formed by a federation ; the central government to handle common affairs , the provincial to control local affairs “. The bigger picture is the partition of Syria , which is the American objective . You state , “the US special forces have to move back to Erbil sometime” , but look at Iraq , look at Afghanistan , they still have not left . The Americans are good salesmen , they have sold the Kurdish this ” federations ” concept in order to dissolve the federal nation of Syria . The American government has financed the very jihadists that the people of Syria have been fighting , now that they are all but beaten , they want to use the Kurds . Don’t fall for it .

Murf

Except that YPG are only seeking autonomy not independence.

gold37

They have no choice, it would b the smart thing to do, this war has gone on for far too long.

G Dean VanGaya

They have plenty of choice. Erdogan has pushed his country to the brink of civil war, and an attempted invasion of Afrin that actually is majority Kurd and everyone is armed and ready to fight the Turkish army, will inspire all Kurds within Turkey to do the same, and they will have plenty of non-kurdish allies to join them in destroying Erdogan’s Turkey. It is now Erdogan who is running out of time.

Skagos

You literally know nothing about Turkey’s society. Please don’t embrass yourself.

G Dean VanGaya

atually i have lived and worked in Turkey.

Störtebembel

So let the technical well prepared but not very battle proofed turkish army and their socalled FSA cowards try for Afrin… We`ll see what´s happening… ;-) Biji + tiocfaidh ár lá!

This is like the reports that SDF was going to turn the same cities over to the FSA. There might be talks, yes. I seriously doubt that there is any real substance in it, other then the wish of trolls to see it happen.

If it were to happen, then it would not be the cities but a small strip along the frontline.

The window for Turkey to invade the region is closing rapidly. With the deployed forces Turkey cannot start an all out invasion of Afrin.

John Brown

As I predicted Turkey is moving decisively into the Russian / Chinese sphere of influence. They are helping the SAA to take Afrin from the Kurds.this is Israel’s and racist supremacist Jewry’s worst nightmare.

G Dean VanGaya

How does South Front know about AMN’s sources inside the SAA and Damascus? Why is it for South Front to cover for the AMN’s mistakes? Who backs South Front and AMN?

If there were no talks, then is AMN (and it seems by South Front’s own admitted alliance with AMN, is South Front) pushing an agenda instead of reporting?.. All while claiming it’s reporting on non-existent talks? Who is AMN?.. Are they Ba’athist or Ba’athist related? Why is there a report that the PYD is in talks to turn over a hugely Kurdish area to the SAA when the PYD says they haven’t even been approached for talks?

It seems that the Ba’athists and AMN(?) (and South Front?) are fully willing to work with Erdogan to intimidate the Syrian population, even though Erdogan ran the logistics of the Syrian invasion by the terrorists.

South Front really gives it away with the ending though… “Turkish UAVs flew for long periods yesterday over Afrin area, indicating Turkey’s determination to launch a military operation soon. Although the PYD wants to show itself as the strong side, but in reality like in Manbij the Kurds will have to listen to the other sides in the final of story”

I.e., South Front is admitting – ‘We know the moves of the Turkish army intimately, even though we aren’t in Efrin to report on it (how do they know?). The Kurds should be fully intimidated by the looming invasion by the army, so how about, we the Ba’athist (media) offer them a way out and straight into control by Damascus, and if they come weakly asking Damasus to take over without Assad even having to offer, then, we the media, are then the peace keepers and up for good jobs in the Ba’athist regime.’

Efrin, is not Arab Manbij, the assembly in Manbij is mostly Arab because the population of Manbij is Arab and the PYD, TEV-DEM and the YPG are truly democratic so they turned it over to the people very soon after liberating the city. Efrin however is practically entirely Kurdish, except for all the refugees they welcomed from Erdogan’s Aleppo prison camp. And every single one of them, from 15 year old boys to 70 year old Kurdish women, have AKs and are ready to fight the Turks, and now, that they know that the SAA and Assad are looking to be mere local administrators for Erdogan’s neo-Ottoman empire, they will probably fight the SAA too. Will Latakia and Damascus be liberated from Ba’athist rule next?! The YPG-YPJ have their self-defense forces strongly established in the populations, so now their expeditionary forces can focus on counter attack of Turkey and the non-democratic Ba’athists.
