Israel held Syria’s Interim President Ahmad al-Sharaa responsible for a rocket attack that targeted the occupied Golan Heights late on June 3, in the first such incident since the fall of the regime of former president Bashar al-Assad.
At least two rockets were launched during the attack, triggering sirens in the settlements of Hispin and Ramat Magshimim in the Golan Heights. Israeli Police located the site of the rocket impacts in an open area near Ramat Magshimim. No casualties or damage was reported.
Later, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said that the rockets had been launched from the outskirts of the town of Tasil in the western countryside of Daraa, near an area where local gunmen had fired at Israeli troops last April.
Israel took over the buffer zone adjacent to the Golan Heights in southern Syria following the fall of the Assad regime last December. The IDF established nine posts there. Since then, Israeli troops have been conducting raids in nearby areas in the countryside of Daraa and neighboring al-Quneitra.
In an initial response to the rocket attack, the IDF said that its artillery shelled the launch site. A series of strikes later hit what the military described as “weapons belonging to the regime.”
“The Syrian regime is responsible for what is happening in Syria and will continue to bear the consequences as long as hostile activity continues from its territory,” the IDF said in a statement.
The strikes hit the 175th Regiment base near the town of Izraa and the area of Tell al-Mal in the northern Daraa countryside, as well as the area of Tell al-Shaar in the vicinity of al-Quneitra city, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which didn’t report any casualties.
Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a statement asserting that Israel views Sharaa himself as “directly responsible for every threat and [rocket] fire toward the State of Israel.”
“The full response will come soon,” said Katz, adding that Israel “will not allow a return to a pre-October 7 reality.”
Two separate groups claimed responsibility for the rocket attack. The first group, which was not heard of before, is named after Mohammed Deif, the former military leader of the Palestinian Hamas Movement who was killed by Israel last year, and the second is the Islamic Resistance Front in Syria (IRFS) which emerged following the fall of the Assad regime and is believed to have ties to Iran.
The IRFS released footage showing two rockets being prepared for launch, while the Martyr Muhammad Deif Brigades released footage allegedly showing the impacts of the rockets. Neither footage has been verified.
From its side, the Syrian Foreign Ministry asserted that it “has not and will not pose a threat to any party in the region” and is working to rein in armed, non-state actors in southern Syria.
The ministry claimed it had yet to confirm the rocket launches that targeted Israel, but it did condemn the Israeli response, saying it resulted in “heavy human and material losses” and violated Syria’s sovereignty “at a time when we are most in need of calm and peaceful solutions.”
“We call on the international community to assume its responsibilities in stopping these attacks, and to support efforts aimed at restoring security and stability to Syria and the region,” the ministry said in a statement published by the state-run Syrian Arab News Agency.
The rocket attack on the Golan Heights came following reports of Israeli-Syrian talks, including face-to-face meetings, aimed at calming tensions and preventing conflict in the border region between the two longtime foes.
Israel had ignored the talks, launching a heavy wave of strikes on anti-ship and anti-aircraft missile sites on the Syrian coast last week.

this ia just pretext for isisrael to attack syria once again. al joolani is shit, and nothing but a stooge of them zio cunts.
the usa and israel are both controlled by the same zionists. the israeli , syria conflict is orchestrated on both sides to enhance the flow of american tax money and the increase zionist control of the region
don’t worry julani will get to the bottom of it, it’s probably a false flag to justify a full scale zionist invasion of syria to grab more land for lebensraum.
israel walking into syrian quicksand.
it’s popcorn time… because i suspect that henceforth turkey will be constantly arming them and providing intel for targets!
if turkey can break from mossad infiltration
bribes from the west for turkey to steer clear are possible (the traditional way to keep the ottomans at bay) but infiltration? not possible… turkey is a different kind of animal.
israel contra o presidente terrorista da síria, o julani? haha que se matem
i hope assad and his family are enjoying living in a moscow apartment…heheheh
