As the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty appears to be dead, more and more reports appear about a possible Russian response in the field of missile development in the new reality.
On February 7, the Russian state news agency TASS reported citing a source that the land-based version of the sea-launched Kalibr cruise missile can be developed and enter into its serial production phase by the end of 2019.
“The land-based Kalibr system with the cruise missile can be developed and prepared for its serial production by the end of this year,” the source in the missile-building industry told TASS. “In order to use this missile in its land-based version, it is only necessary to make changes to its control system and replace the software.”
The source noted that development of a land-based Kalibr missile won’t require much time as the missile has for long been operational in the Russian Navy.
On February 23, TASS revealed that the land-based Kalibr cruise missile will be named the Kalibr-M and has a range of over 4,500 km.
“Considering the possible complete withdrawal of the US from the INF Treaty, it is planned that the land-based variant of the ship-launched cruise missile Kalibr-M with maximum range of over 4.500 kilometers will be developed,” TASS quoted the source in the defense industry.
While the data provided by TASS has not been officially confirmed, it’s the fact that Russia is developing a land-based version of the Kalibr cruise missile. Following the US suspension of participation in the INF Treaty, Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly approved this move.
So a cruise missile that sits in a cargo container on a barge in a river can’t be fired from the same cargo container on a truck trailer? Please explain SF.
A cargo container is about Club-K missiles. Those range are less then Kalibrs.
As Harry (and the article) say’s, this is about Russia’s response to the US withdrawal from INF, and the land-based missiles will have a range of 4,500 kms, way more than the Clubs (500 kms max).

I agree. Too many producers announce too soon ideas with no realistic improvemenets too soon.
Many of those even are of no use even they work well.
The container based Kalibr was only a proposal, probably an attempt to warn America of its folly. Of course now it will become a reality.
Russia needs to share the technology with China, in exchange for China mass producing them. 100 thousand launchers aboard thousands of cargo ships, and take out every US city/town with a population of more than 10 thousand. Let the hillbillies understand that Trump is going to get them all killed.

Missiles are the leveler that’s for sure. What dispells reality when agreement is reached? Two things in my opinion stupidity and greed, the Christian Russians were greedy and stupid, now the best advantage they got is the Muslims winning God’s approval to help lift them off their knees.
I personally liked the Commies better, at least they respected their fallen Comrades, these Russian Christian swine spit on the grave of Stalin, but I suppose their better than the Evangelical Roman Catholics who continually spit on Jesus Christ.
Thank Allah that Stalin was safely deceased before he got spat on, I just personally don’t believe the Muslims are fit to fight and the Russian Christians don’t need to when the can crawl to anything Western.
