Russia is actively constructing revetments at its Hmeimim Airbase in the Syrian province of Latakia. Most likely, they will be a part of the constructions to protect aircraft deployed in the area. Recently, the airbase has repeatedly become a target of shelling by militants.
Not 24m or 25m, but 24.5m? Surely that info comes from the ground or it was “leaked” to them.
Satellite imagery analysts are clever boffins, they’ve been at it since the 1960’s, I’m sure they know how to measure things. All they need is to know exact measurements of an aircraft or helicopter and then you can measure the distance between them.
Perhaps the Israeli’s are using Jacob Wohls nose to calibrate their instruments ?
It’s a finely honed nose.
For bullshit!
Smart thinking on Russia’s part. I was always amazed at seeing how in the open the Russian airgroup was being kept. Maybe a more interesting question though is, how come for four years, even when the frontline was much closer and the Jihadis much stronger, the Jihadis did not shell Hmeimim, yet now, when the frontline is at its furthest they do? Did they recently gained this ability and how? I smell a rat. A Turkish rat.
Or an Israeli rat.
These defences are long overdue.
Yes maybe, how do we know that the pics are at the location the Israelis say they are? I know it will sound incredible to some, but they might be lying and the pics are fake, taken 10 years ago in Kazakhstan. But then again it may be true.
If they’d gotten rid of the terrorists like they should have when they should have, this would be irrelevant, no more terrorists means no need for extra defenses, and less suffering for the Syrian people as a bonus. Maybe the rebels will eventually get a hold of even more powerful rockets with bigger warheads, and then the Russians may have to rebuild their defenses once more after the rebels attack them, but they wouldn’t have to if there were no more terrorists.
