On the night of August 24, Russian armed forces conducted combined strikes on military and infrastructure facilities in seven regions of Ukraine. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the attack included two Onyx anti-ship missiles, six Kh-31P and Kh-59 air-launched cruise missiles, and 143 strike UAVs.
The main blow fell on Odesa region. In the port of Yuzhny, a tanker carrying fuel and lubricants for the Ukrainian Armed Forces was hit, along with five large fuel storage tanks, ten military supply warehouses on the territory of a logistics terminal, and port infrastructure facilities used for unloading and storing military cargo. Additionally, a strike was carried out on the PS-330 “Adzhalyk” electrical substation (28 km northwest of Odesa), which provides power to the port. In the city itself, a fire was reported at an Epicenter hypermarket.
According to reports, strikes in Odesa region were conducted in two waves. Around 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m., two groups of Geran loitering munitions attacked targets in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, where, according to NASA satellite monitoring data, two major fires broke out—on the territory of the former Hemoplast plant and near a Nova Poshta branch. Half an hour later, a missile strike hit Odesa and Bilyari: two Kh-31/Kh-59 missiles struck targets in Odesa, while four Kh-59/Kh-69 missiles, two Onyx anti-ship cruise missiles, three Banderol loitering munitions, two UMPK glide bombs, and three to four rocket-powered Geran drones hit targets in Bilyari. The attack involved a mixed squadron of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS): six Su-34, four Su-35, and two Su-57 aircraft.
In Kharkiv region, Balakleya was hit by rocket-powered Geran strikes—there were two attack waves overnight, with fires breaking out at the impact sites. Single drones and small groups also attacked targets in Chernihiv region (Korop), Poltava region (vicinity of Zenkov), Dnipropetrovsk region (vicinity of Zelenodolsk), and Mykolaiv region. In Korop, a fire at a gas station was recorded after a strike; in the morning, a gas station was also hit near Poltava.

According to Ukraine’s Ministry of Energy, over 300 gas stations have been destroyed or damaged in the past six months. Additionally, since the start of the conflict, Russian forces have put out of commission 492 locomotives and 249 railcars of Ukraine’s railway system, as stated by Minister of Communities and Territories Development Mykola Kalashnyk, who noted that there is currently no way to replace such losses. Strikes on railway infrastructure are systematic in nature and target locomotives, depots, traction substations, and rolling stock. The railway remains the main logistics artery for the Ukrainian Armed Forces for moving personnel, equipment, and ammunition. Furthermore, after strikes on Black Sea ports, Kyiv attempted to redirect agricultural exports overland, with the bulk routed by rail—destroying locomotives and railcars undermines this export channel.
Strikes on Russian Territory
On the night of August 24, according to Russia’s Ministry of Defense, 351 Ukrainian UAVs were shot down over nine Russian regions. However, several targets were hit: OZON logistics hubs in Enem (Adygea), Nevinnomyssk (Stavropol Krai), and Tyube (Dagestan), as well as a substation in Kamensk-Shakhtinsky (Rostov region).
According to Ukrainian sources, also struck were the Millerovo military airfield in Rostov region, an airfield near Vityazevo in Krasnodar Krai, as well as radar stations and air defense systems in Rostov region and Crimea.
In Krasnodar, according to the regional governor, three children were killed and seven more injured when debris from a UAV fell on a private children’s center. A total of 12 people were affected. Several multi-story residential buildings were damaged in the city, and a warehouse of a home goods retail chain caught fire.
Thus, on August 24, both sides continued their pattern of daily deep-strike attacks against energy, logistics, and transportation infrastructure. Russian forces focused on port and railway infrastructure in Odesa region and other areas, seeking to disrupt Ukrainian supply chains. Ukrainian drones, in turn, struck logistics hubs and energy facilities in southern Russia, as well as military airfields.
