Russia will receive precision-guided ballistic missiles as well as addition shipments of combat and suicide drones from Iran, The Washington Post reported on October 16.
The newspaper said that new weapons are meant for use in Ukraine. Russia has been conducting a special military operation in the country for nearly eight months now.
In the recent weeks, the Russian military attacked dozens of targets of Kiev forces with new suicide drones, the Geran-1 and 2, which are said to be copies of Iran’s Shahed-131 and 136. The Shahed-131 has a range of 900 kilometers and a 15 kg warhead, while the Shahed-136 has a range of up to 2,500 kilometers and a 40 kg warhead.
The Russian military has been also using Iranian-made Mohajer-6 drones against Kiev Forces. The combat drone is capable of carrying a multispectral surveillance payload and up to four precision-guided munitions. The drone has an endurance of more than 12 hours and an operational range of 200-500 kilometers.
The Washington Post said that Iranian officials arrived in Russia on September 18 to finalize terms for additional weapons shipments, including Fateh-110 and Zolfaghar ballistic missiles. An intelligence assessment shared in recent days with Ukrainian and U.S. officials contends that Iran is currently preparing a first shipment of the missiles.
The Fateh-110 missile has a range of 300 kilometers and a warhead weighting 650 kg, while the Zolfaghar has a range of 700 kilometers and is armed with a 450 kg warhead. Both missiles are guided by a satellite-aided inertial navigation system.
The officials briefed on the planned missiles shipment told The Washington Post that Iran also is preparing new deliveries of drones for Russia, including “dozens” of additional Mohajer-6s and a larger number of Shahed-136s. According to the officials, Iranian technical advisers have visited Russia in recent weeks to provide instructions on operating the drones.
While U.S. officials claim that Iran is directly supplying weapons to Russia, the Russian military industrial complex may be producing or preparing to produce these missiles and drones under an agreement with Iran.
Iranian missiles and drones will help boost the long-range fire power of the Russian military at a very low cost. With no real air defense network, Kiev forces will likely sustain heavy human and material losses.

That shit is old and most likely Russia did not spend the time or money to keep it in great shape. The Cep for a scud (depending on variant ) can be up to a KM from what you are aiming at and Tockas are in the hundreds of meters range. They could be modded but they are also liquid fueled…. honestly Scud is just a V2. Not what Russia needs. They have 1200 combat aircraft and millions of tons of free fall bombs and they should be able to fly100s of sorties a day. They would lose some aircraft but thats a given even if they lost five a day after a few weeks they would fly freely destroying everything. Might cost 50 to 60 planes… with the hype around videos thats bad pr but good warfare. The cheap drones seem to work well for the targets just will take more time

Regarding medium range ballistic missiles both the US and Russia are years behind countries like Iran and China. The reason is the treaties they signed which prevented them from developing such missiles. It’s not because of lack of capability. Anyway both tried to fill the gap with other means, like cruise missiles which in reality aren’t comparable.
But in drones you are right, Russia neglected them and the reason perhaps is the Russian military doctrine. They simply didn’t think they need them, considering their airforce is a formidable one, they have the most powerful artillery in the world and they didn’t plan on invading other countries. But with a rapidly changing world, it will also change.
Currently Iran and Russia are cooperating in this regard in 3 major fields: Improving the existing Russian platforms, Altering and production of existing Iranian designs for Russia’s needs and design and development of new platforms based on Russia’s needs and environment.
