Russia and Ukraine continue their daily exchange of strikes. Over the past two days, Russian drones struck energy facilities, ports, and transport infrastructure in eight or nine regions of Ukraine. Ukrainian drones and missiles attacked oil depots, warehouses, and energy facilities on Russian territory — from Crimea to the Leningrad Region. The most notable incident on June 7 was a drone strike of unknown origin on a spent nuclear fuel storage site in the Chernobyl zone near Kyiv.
Energoatom immediately accused Russia of carrying out the attack: according to the company’s statement, on the night of June 7 a drone partially destroyed the container reception building at the Central Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility (CSFSF). A fire broke out, covering approximately 40 square meters, and was quickly extinguished; there were no casualties, radiation levels remain within normal limits, and the spent fuel containers themselves were not stored in that building.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed deep concern and stated that the agency would send inspectors to the site. Counterarguments emerged almost immediately: several channels claimed that the strike could have been carried out by a drone “presumably linked to Zelenskyy,” and that only a technical structure was damaged.
Strikes on Ukraine: Systemic Pressure on Energy Facilities and Ports
On the night of June 7, according to monitoring data, Russian forces launched approximately 236 UAVs, and on the night of June 6 — 272. For the second consecutive day, the main effort was directed at the Odesa Region.
Odesa Region and Chornomorsk. Port infrastructure was damaged; according to reports, two vessels in the Odesa roadstead were hit. More than 120 Geran strike drones have hit the area over three days.
Kyiv Region. Strikes were recorded in the vicinities of Brovary and Borispol; details remain limited.
Poltava Region. Russian forces struck the Poltava Experimental Mechanical Plant.
Dnipropetrovsk Region (including Kryvyi Rih and Oleksandrivka). Heavy truck parking areas and energy facilities were damaged; hits from Geran drones were recorded at the Kryvorizka Thermal Power Plant.
Zaporizhzhia Region. Industrial and critical infrastructure were hit; one district lost power, and a VL8M locomotive was struck in the morning.
Kharkiv, Sumy, and Rivne Regions. Gas station strikes and localized infrastructure damage were reported; Konotop remained partially without water and electricity.
At least two high-speed Ukrainian Navy boats were struck in the Black Sea by strike UAVs — footage shows the explosion and fire. These attacks are believed to be aimed at preventing a possible amphibious landing or operations near offshore drilling platforms.
Strikes on Russia: Massive Raid on St. Petersburg and Damage to Oil Infrastructure
According to Russian reports, on the night of June 7, air defense forces shot down 95 Ukrainian UAVs across 12 regions. Earlier that night (June 6), Russian air defense intercepted 376 drones, totaling 617 UAVs per day according to Russian data. The main strike targeted St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region. Attacks were reported in Kronstadt, as well as the Kirovsky and Krasnoselsky districts. Fires and secondary explosions at military storage facilities were recorded in the Bolshaya Izhora area. Reports also suggested damage to the Research Institute of Marine Thermal Engineering (Mortermoteplotekhnika) and oil depots.
Crimea. The Semikolodezyanskaya oil depot in the settlement of Lenino was attacked, as was the sea oil terminal in Feodosia. Satellite data (NASA FIRMS, according to reports) confirmed the fires. Attempted missile strikes on the Crimean Bridge were also mentioned but, according to official data, were repelled by air defense.
Krasnodar Krai and Tyumen. Fires occurred at an oil depot in Ust-Labinsk and at the Antipinsky Refinery; large-scale fires caused damage to production infrastructure.
Other Regions. UAV interceptions were recorded over Bryansk, Smolensk, Tula, and several central regions. Falling debris caused local fires and damage; in some locations, mobile communication disruptions and flight delays were reported. Additionally, Ukrainian forces attacked the port of Mariupol.
