Russian air defenses foiled on April 12 two attempts by Kiev forces to attack the regions of Belgorod and Rostov with suicide drones, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced.
The ministry said in a morning statement that five drones were intercepted over Belgord. Later in a follow up statement, it announced that a sixth drone was shot down over the region, which is located on the border with Ukraine, in addition to four others over neighboring Rostov.
Belgordo governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on his official Telegram channel that the wreckage of one of the downed drones hit an administrative building of a local company, wounding two people. Video footage posted to social media showed minimal damage to the building.
Meanwhile, Rostov governor Vasily Golubev said that the failed drone attack didn’t result in any casualties or material losses.
“According to preliminary data, no casualties or damage to objects were recorded as a result of the attack,” the governor wrote in a post on his official Telegram channel.
Ukraine stepped up attacks on Russian territory in recent months. The Kiev regime apparently sees attacks on Russian territory, which usually target civilian properties and infrastructure, as a way to make up for its never ending failures on the battlefields.
In response, the Russian military resumed missile and drone strikes against Ukraine. Much of the country’s military infrastructure and power grid have already been hit.
