The Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) destroyed three militant hideouts in hard-to-reach mountainous terrain in the central Syrian governorate of Homs known as al-Amor ridge, the deputy chief of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties in Syria announced on April 17
“The Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed three hideouts, used by militants who left the al-Tanf zone and took refuge in hard-to-access areas of the al-Amor ridge in the Homs Governorate,” Major General Yury Popov said in a daily briefing.
Video footage posted to social media on the same day showed airstrikes by the VKS against militants hideouts in central Syria. However, it is unclear if these were the same airstrikes announced by the Russian Reconciliation Center in the country.
The main active faction in this part of Homs is ISIS. The terrorist group stepped up its attacks against government forces and civilians in the central region in recent weeks.
Around 200 U.S. troops are usually deployed at garrison in al-Tanf, along with hundreds of militants from a proxy group known as the Syrian Free Army. The coalition maintains a 55-kilometer no-fly zone around al-Tanf. Despite this, VKS warplanes fly over the garrison on a regular basis.
The U.S. claims that it is present in al-Tanf to counter ISIS. Nevertheless, the real purpose of the garrison is to block the strategic Damascus-Baghdad highway. In addition, the garrison is reportedly being used as an outpost to collect intelligence and facilitate Israeli attacks against Syria.
Syrian and Russian officials have repeatedly accused U.S. forces in al-Tanf of training and even arming terrorists, including members of ISIS.

syria and russia should establish a joint base at the border between al tanf and iraq. cut off all road transport to the usa base and block them. if the usa attacks them they would be a legitimate target for the russians.

at the invitation of the official un recognized syrian government russia should establish mirror bases right outside the 55km perimeter of the illegally occupied al-tanf garrison and kill every islamic-wahhabi terrorist and rodent that ventures out, and conduct frequent aerial drone patrols right outside the exclusion area to keep the illegal occupiers on their toes.
