On December 2, the Russian military’s Yug [South] Group of Forces advanced in the southern part of the city of Kostiantynivka, and made gains to the south of the city of Siversk in Donetsk.
To the south of Kostiantynivka, Russian troops expanded its control to the west of Pleshchiivka, capturing an area of more than 2,3 square kilometers along the northern banks of the reservoir. Further advance to the west and the northwest, mainly along Ivanopillya, is to be expected.
The Yug Group of Forces also advanced in Kostiantynivka itself. Multiple buildings in the Santurinovka area in the southern part of the city were captured.
A day earlier, Russian troops broke through Ukrainian defenses to the north of Kostiantynivka and captured Klinovoye. The settlement is located just four kilometers to the east of the main road leading to the northern entrance of the city.
Advance in the southern part of Kostiantynivka will likely remain slow until the road to the north, which is the last main supply line of Kiev forces in the city and its surroundings, is cut.
To the east in Donetsk, the Yug Group of Forces continues to advance in Siversk and its surrounding, even at a faster pace.
Russian troops are engaged in a fierce battle with Kiev forces at the central and southern parts of Siversk after capturing much of its eastern side.
A more serious push by the Yug Group of Forces was reported to the south of Siversk. Russian troops crossed the Bakhmutka River and stormed Sviato-Pokrovske, which is located on a key road leading to the city. The roads have been already cut by the troops, and much of the town’s southern and eastern part have been already secured.
Once Sviato-Pokrovske is captured, Russian troops will likely advance north to attack Siversk from the west. Overall, the city will likely be captured before the end of the year.
Kiev forces were clearly weakened by the recent defeats in the cities of Pokrovsk in Donetsk and Vovchansk in Kharkiv. Another defeat in Siversk is already on the way, and the situation in Kostiantynivka is getting worse. Meanwhile in the city of Krasny Liman, also in Donetsk, the situation is even more critical. Ukraine is also heading with full speed towards a defeat in the city of Huliaipole in Zaporozhye.
