Russian Army Launched 27 Group Strikes, Captured Several Settlements In Last Five Days: MoD

The Russian military launched 27 group strikes against Ukraine between May 5 and 10, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced in a general briefing.

The strikes were carried out “in response to the Kiev regime’s attempts to damage objects of Russian power infrastructure and defense industry enterprises of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation,” according to the ministry, which noted that long-range, high-precision sea and air-launched weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles as well as drones were used.

“Ukrainian power infrastructure, military industry enterprises and rail road infrastructure were wiped out,” the ministry said. “In addition, strikes were delivered at air defense weaponry, POL [petroleum oil and lubricants] bases, uncrewed surface vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) production and maintenance workshops, temporary deployment areas of Ukrainian nationalists formations and foreign mercenaries as well as AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] manpower and hardware clusters on railroad loading stations.”

The ministry also provided details on the Russian military’s recent defensive and offensive actions in the special military operation zone in the same briefing.

The Zapad Group of Forces liberated, according to the ministry, Kotlyarovka and Kislovka -in the Kharkov region- over the past five days. It also inflicted losses on nine Ukrainian brigades close to Stelmakhovka, Novoselkovskoye -in the Lugansk region-, Novosadovoye -in the Donetsk region- and Sinkovka -in Kharkov-.

In addition ,the group repelled 14 counter-attacks by three AFU brigades and one Ukrainian National Guard Brigade near Krakhmalnoye -in Kharkov-, Chervonaya Dibrova -in Lugansk- and Grigorovka -in Donetsk-.

“The AFU losses amounted to up to 1,015 Ukrainian troops, three tanks, including two German-made Leopard tanks, five armored fighting vehicles, including one United States-made M113 armored personnel carrier, five motor vehicles and 23 field artillery howitzers, including five western-made samples,” the ministry said, adding that “one U.S.-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery warfare station was also neutralized.”

The ministry also announced that the Yug Group of Forces continued to advance to the depth of Ukrainian defenses over the past five days.

The group inflicted losses on two AFU assault brigades, eight mechanized brigades, three territorial defense brigade brigades near Spornoye, Andreyevka, Elizavetovka, Kurdyumovka, Pobeda and Grigorovka -in Donetsk-.
It also repelled a counter-attack launched by one AFU mechanized brigade near Krasnoye -in Donetsk-, according to the ministry.

“The AFU losses amounted to more than 1,985 Ukrainian troops, three tanks, six armored fighting vehicles, including one U.S.-made M113 armored personnel carrier, 26 motor vehicles, 35 field artillery howitzers, including 13 supplied to Ukraine by Western countries,” the ministry said, adding that “a U.S.-made AN/TPQ-50 and AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery warfare stations as well as three field ammunition depots were wiped out.”

Also during the last five days, the Tsentr Group of Forces liberated Novokalinovo -in Donetsk-, inflicted losses on units of 12 AFU brigades and repelled 48 counter-attacks near Semyonovka, Solovyovo, Ocheretino and Netaylovo -in Donetsk-, according to the ministry.

“The AFU losses amounted to more than 2,360 Ukrainian troops, four tanks, including one German-made Leopard tank and two U.S.-made Abrams tanks, 16 armored fighting vehicles, including two U.S.-made Bradley infantry fighting vehicles and one German-made Marder infantry fighting vehicle, 30 field artillery howitzers and one Czech-made Vampire MLRS [multiple launch rocket system],” the ministry said.

The ministry also said that during the same period the Vostok Group of Forces improved the tactical situation and inflicted losses on two AFU mechanized brigades and two territorial defense brigades near Urozhaynoye, Staromayorskoye, Vodyanoye and Prechistovka -in Donetsk-.

“The AFU losses amounted to up to 860 Ukrainian troops, seven tanks, eight armored fighting vehicles, 19 motor vehicles and 17 field artillery howitzers,” it added.

Meanwhile, the Dnepr Group of Forces inflicted losses on three AFU brigades as well as marines brigades, territorial defense brigades and Ukrainian national guard brigades near Zolotaya Balka, Tokaryovka, Ivanovka, Mikhailovka, Stepnoye -in the Kherson region- and Pavlovka -in the Zaporozhye-, according to the ministry.

The group also repelled a counter-attack launched by Ukraine’s 118th Mechanised Brigade to the north of Rabotino -in Zaporozhye-.

“The AFU losses amounted to up to 240 Ukrainian troops, nine motor vehicles, 20 field artillery howitzers, including 11 U.S.-made M777 howitzers,” the ministry said.

In the same briefing, the ministry announced that the Missile Troops, Artillery and UAVs of the Groups of Forces of the Russian Armed Forces wiped out one Western-made missile weaponry depot near Odessa, one S-300 air defense system radar station and one P-19 detection and tracking radar station for detection and tracking of aerial targets over the past five days.

In addition, one fuel depot of the Ukraine’s Joint Logistics Centre was destroyed in a Russian strike, according to the ministry.

The ministry also said that Russian air defenses shot down during the same period one Su-27 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Forces, three U.S.-made ATACMS operational-tactical missiles, 17 French-made Hammer and U.S.-made JDAM guided aerial bombs, 30 GLSDB, HIMARS, Uragan and Vampire MLRS projectiles as well as 163 UAVs.

A total of 13 Ukrainian troops also surrendered to the Russian military in different directions across the front, according to the ministry.

“In total, 594 airplanes and 270 helicopters, 23,905 UAVs, 512 air defense missile systems, 15,934 tanks and other armored fighting vehicles, 1,282 combat vehicles equipped with MLRS, 9,437 field artillery cannons and mortars as well as 21,570 units of special military equipment have been destroyed during the special military operation,” the ministry concluded.

Overall, the Russian military maintained domanace over the frontline while launching more powerful group strikes against Ukraine in the last five days. Kiev forces suffered heavy human and material losses. It highly unlikely that the current balance of power will shift anytime in the near future.
