The Russian military’s Sever (North) Group of Forces has liberated the settlement of Dar’ino in the Kursk direction from Kiev forces, Russian media reported on November 24.
Dar’ino , which is located in the Sudzhansky district, was reportedly taken by the 2nd battalion of the 51st Regiment. Videos posted to social networks showed troops from the unit raising their flag over a communication tower in the middle of the settlement.
Separately, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the Sever Group of Forces had inflicted losses on Kiev forces in Kursk.
Ukraine’s 21st, 41st, 44th, 47th mechanized brigades, 17th Heavy Mechanised Brigade, 5th Tank Brigade, 80th, 82nd, 95th Air Assault Brigade, 36th Marine Brigade, 112th, 116th, 117th, and 129th territorial defense brigades took losses close to the settlements of Aleksandriya, Kruglenkoye, Lebedevka, Leonidovka, Mirny, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Novoivanovka, Sverdlikovo, Plyokhovo, and Staraya Sorochina, the ministry said in its daily briefing.
It added that Russian air and artillery strikes hit Ukrainian troops and equipment close to Aleksandriya, Viktorovka, Guyevo, Daryino, Zaoleshenka, Kazachaya Loknya, Kositsa, Kruglenkoye, Kurilovka, Lebedevka, Leonidovo, Malaya Loknya, Martynovka, Mirny, Nizhny Klin, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Nikolsky, Novoivanovka, Plyokhovo, Sverdlikovo, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye in Kursk, as well as near the settlements of Belovody, Zhuravka, Miropolye, and Yunakovka in the nearby Ukrainian region of Sumy.
“Over the past 24 hours, the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine] losses amounted to more than 260 troops. One tank, one armored fighting vehicle, five motor vehicles, and one mortar were destroyed,” the ministry detailed in its briefing.
In addition, videos posted to social networks showed two recent drone strikes that targeted Kiev forces in Kursk and Sumy.
Kiev forces launched a surprise attack from Sumy into Kursk last August. The Russian military is currently conducting a counter-attack to clear the region.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 35,310 troops, 216 tanks, 149 infantry fighting vehicles, 120 armored personnel carriers, 1,193 armored fighting vehicles, 1,022 motor vehicles, 300 artillery guns, 40 launchers, including 11 American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, 13 air defense systems, seven transport-loading vehicles, 70 electronic warfare stations, 13 counter-battery radars, four aerial radars, 27 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle, six armored recovery vehicle, and one command post vehicle.
