The Sever Group of Forces inflicted heavy losses on several formations of Kiev forces while repelling several counter-attacks and thwarting an infiltration attempt in the Kursk direction, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced on October 25.
In its daily briefing, the ministry said that Ukraine’s 22nd, 41st and 115th mechanized, 17th tank, 82nd and 95th airborne assault brigades, the 36th marine brigade, as well as the 112th and 129th territorial defense brigades took losses near the settlements of Darino, Zeleny Shlyakh, Nizhny Klin, Novoivanovka, and Plekhovo.
Five counter-attacks were also repelled close to the settlements of Alexandria, Novoivanovka, and Plekhovo, according to the ministry.
“The Armed Forces of Ukraine [AFU] lost up to 30 people killed and wounded. A tank, two combat armored vehicles and a car were also destroyed. Three AFU servicemen surrendered,” it said.
In addition, the ministry said that an attempt by Kiev forces to break through the Russian border was thwarted near the settlement of Novy Put.
“The enemy’s losses amounted to about 15 personnel killed and wounded, two combat armored vehicles were destroyed. One Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman surrendered,” it added.
The ministry also announced that Russian air and artillery strikes hit gatherings of the 21st, 22nd, 41st, 47th, 61st and 115th mechanized, 17th tank, 80th, 82nd and 95th airborne assault brigades, the 36th marine brigade, the 17th National Guard brigade, as well as the 103rd, 112th and 129th territorial defense brigades near the settlements of Bondarevka, Viktorovka, Gogolevka, Guevo, Darino, Zeleny Shlyakh, Kazachya Loknya, Kolmakov, Lebedivka, Loknya, Martynovka, Makhnovka, Mirny, Nikolayevo-Daryino, Nikolsky, Novoivanovka, Novy Put, Oleshnya, Plekhovo, Sverdlikovo, and Cherkasskoye Porechnoye.
Other strikes targeted, according to the ministry, the reserves of the 41st, 61st and 115th mechanized, 95th airborne assault brigades, the 17th National Guard brigade, as well as the 103rd, 107th and 129th territorial defense brigades close to the the settlements of Basovka, Velyka Pisarevka, Zhuravka, Miropolye, Pavlovka, and Shalygino in the Ukrainian region of Sumy, which borders Kursk.
“Over the last 24 hours, the AFU lost more than 300 servicemen, ten armored vehicles were destroyed, including a tank, an armored personnel carrier, and eight armored combat vehicles, as well as three artillery pieces, five mortars, three vehicles, and an electronic warfare station. Four Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen surrendered,” the ministry detailed in its briefing.
Several videos released by Russian media showed recent strikes that targeted Ukrainian positions, equipment and troops in Kursk and Sumy.
Kiev forces attacked Kursk last August. The Russian military is currently conducting a counter-attack. So far, nearly half of the settlements initially occupied by Ukrainian troops have been liberated.
According to the Russian MoD, since the start of the battle in Kursk Kiev forces have lost 26,550 troops, 177 tanks, 93 infantry fighting vehicles, 105 armored personnel carriers, 1,003 armored fighting vehicles, 686 motor vehicles, 229 artillery guns, 38 launchers, including nine American-made HIMARS and six MLRS systems, nine air defense systems, five transport-loading vehicles, 57 electronic warfare stations, 11 counter-battery radars, three aerial radars, 22 engineering vehicles, including 13 counter obstacle vehicles, one UR-77 mine clearing vehicle and three armored recovery vehicle.
