The Russian military is successfully hunting down the remaining air defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with Lancet loitering munitions.
On October 14, a video showing a Lancet loitering munition destroying a Soviet-made 9K33 Osa short-range air defense system of the AFU surfaced online. The loitering munition hit the system on the move. The location of the strike was not revealed.
Later on October 15, the RIA Novosti released footage documenting an attack with a Lancet loitering munition on a Soviet-made S-300PS long-range air-defense system of the AFU in Zaporizhzhia region.
An attempt to shot down the Lancet with a man-portable air-defense system failed. The loitering munition went on to destroy two transporter erector launchers (TELs), of the 5P85D or the 5P85S type, and possibly damag a third TEL along with a 5N63S fire control radar that was installed on 40V6M masts.
The Lancet, which was developed by the ZALA Aero Group, is equipped with an elector-optical system that allows it to detect, track and lock on static and moving targets.
The two air-defense systems were apparently targeted with an improved version of the Lancet-3 that features a more aerodynamic design with extended X-shaped wings. This version has a longer range and endurance than the original Lancet-3, which has a range of 40 kilometers and an endurance of up to 40 minutes only.
The small radar cross-section and minimal infrared signature of loitering munitions like the Lancet make them hard to detect and intercept.
The Russian military has been using the Lancet and several other types of loitering munitions against the AFU since the beginning of its special operation in Ukraine. In the last few weeks, the use of these munitions was significantly expanded.
Beautiful. I love the smell of Krispy Ukrainians in the morning.
F7ck you dog fart.
An Apocalypse Now reference.

Ideal weapon for SEAD missions…
Can a Su-34, Su-25 or even a Ka-52 dispense Lancet and Germanium-2 munitions?
No, they can’t. Not yet. The problem is stationary launching system calculated GPS inertia. So, heli’s were theoretically able to do it. With some pod artifices and a proper cyber connection with onboard platforms that can be done in 2 weeks.
No need to, their weaponry is much heavier and designed for larger groupings of targets, the drones are mid-range targeting devices that can be transported and fired more covertly.
Indeed. Helicopters and Su-25 use heavy anti-tank missiles and new LMUR missile (100kg weight, 25 kg warhead), while loitering munition can be launched with hands.
There are so many needy bums in Ukraine’s government with their hands held out, you’d think they’d be doing the most loitering.
GO AWAY, bums! Shoo fly, shoo.
Joe, I need more HIMARS to shoot down all those UAVs Russia’s using to wipe us out. They’re as thick as mosquitoes lately. 5000 HIMARS should do the trick. Chop chop, Joe.
Your ever lasting servant, Volodymyr.
What sort of arsehole parks TELs side by side if you lose one you lose both! utterly stupid
It doesn’t matter, western s̶u̶c̶k̶e̶r̶s̶ tax payers are paying for it
Hey, they were on a coffee break…
Russian army gains significant experience in the field
Looks like Ukraine is running out of SAM systems, no wonder NATO is sending new air defense equipment. Those expensive NASAMS and IRIS-T will also be blown to bits as they arrive and their valuable crews will get roasted extra crispy.
Both NASAMS (older version given to nazis) and IRIS have less combat range (25 km) as “Buk-M1” (35 km). NASAMS use modification of AIM-120, this is much worse than old Buk. IRIS has modern hardware, but its missile is also aerial, i.e. taken from jets to install on ground system. They are much lighter than “Buk’s” missiles, have less energetics and mass of warhead. So they are not better than M1 in total. 25 km combat range makes them vulnerable for artillery strikes, because some artillery systems can fire at 30 and more km.
Take a look at pictures:

Here is “Buk-M1”:

Lancets are exceptionally efficient vehicles. Improvements still in testing phases: improved and variable speed, improved warhead, extended range. These are the only valid options to beat high efficient SAM’s as IronDome or equivalent. Enough of them will assure the aerial bombing supremacy, so it’s only a matter of production and troop training to use them.
two launchers side by side into zone of fire! what a dumbest decision! one white bird destroyed thousands and thousands dollards!
F7ck you khazar persian, blow your head off and dump you into the river.
I wonder if it was a hit in the 2nd video? Looks like it need some hard maneuvering in the final seconds 🤷🏾♂️
It did look like it might overshoot the target. Just the same, the driver and shotgun vantage point must have been a thrill…
You all must be kidding yourselves. You read on Southfront what Russia has destroyed. You do not read what Ukraine has destroyed. Why do you think Russia is retreating?
Lancet-3 is a loitering munition and the 358 is a SAM (surface-to-air missile). They’re nothing a like and differ completely in design.
Zelensky’s favorite song is “Play it Again, SAM. And Again and Again We’re bound to figure out how these things work one of these days.”
Not only does this take out the uke air defense network, but also the ukes who were trained by nato to operate these weapons or any of their old guard who were trained on these systems . This is particularly bad for the ukes, because to operate these systems properly requires advanced training which takes time… something ukraine is now in short supply going into winter and with mounting casualties. Time is the one thing nato cannot give them.
Time and tide wait for no Ukronazi.
The ukros, the ukros, the Ukros is on fire!
Fook the Ukros. I wish the little beggars would just go away.
I second the motion.
HUNT DOWN THOSE NAZI FOREIGN TROOPS AND KILL THEM ALL. =Z=
Can Not wait to see the USA Hawk System destroyed like this S300 >>>
As we see, Lancet UAV is superior to Shahed in 1 way – it has IR/TV camera to automatically track and detect mobile targets. But it has only short range 40km and small 3kg warhead. What Russia needs is a Harop type loitering drone with very long range, IR/TV cam, and passive radar sensor like Harpy. Shahed can do the trick, but it needs added sensors to enable better SEAD.
Correct. Already russians work for an improved Lancet version as I wrote before. That means longer range, larger warhead and most important direct speed control which will give a much better accuracy when spotting a nearby target.
Once Russia eliminates all front line ukrop air defenses like BUKM1, SA8 OSA and S300 it is game over for Ukropistan. RUAF will be able to fly deep into ukrop territory and deliver strikes behind enemy lines, provide 100% CAS similar to Syria campaign and even launch massive carpet bombings like in 2015 Syria using Tu-22m3 and Tu-160. Once those Ukrops have zero soviet air defenses left at frontlines of Kherson, Zaporizjha, Donbass, RUAF SU-34 SU-24 SU-30, TU-22 and SU-35 can start raining hell against Ukrop scum.
Elon Musk got pressured into paying millions for free to Ukraine.
How is this possible? Joe9211 was singing about how Russia was out of missiles… Joe9211 said Russia was all defeated and ran home to mummy… Maybe Joe9211 was just playing with his peepee and talking to his 5eyes imaginary friends….
